Mighty Beau draws 10, led by Carotari and Totally Boss

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – A field of 10 older turf sprinters led by Carotari and Totally Boss is entered in the $110,000 Mighty Beau, which ends an 11-race Saturday card that precedes the simulcast of the Belmont Stakes.
The Mighty Beau goes at 5:58, nearly an hour before the Belmont.
Firecrow, who earned a 100 Beyer Speed Figure in winning the Jim McKay Turf Sprint on the Preakness undercard at Pimlico, bypassed the race. Trainer Ron Moquett said the Mighty Beau “came back a little quick” and that Firecrow tends to prefer more time between starts. Moquett said the June 23 Dark Star at Canterbury Park is a possible next spot for the 5-year-old gelding.
◗ There are any number of races in which Art Collector could resurface before the Churchill spring meet ends June 26. The 4-year-old colt will breeze for a third time this weekend after easing back into racing shape following an extended winter break for trainer Tommy Drury. With the colt’s most recent victory having come last August in the Ellis Park Derby, there are conditioned allowances open to him, as well as a couple of stakes that might suit. Art Collector ran fourth in the Preakness and eighth in the Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile to end his 2020 season.
