Midway Road going to Texas

DRF Staff|Dec 19, 2005

Midway Road, whose retirement was announced in September, will stand at Lane's End Texas near Hempstead rather than at Lane's End in Versailles, Ky., as originally planned, according to published reports. No stud fee has been announced. He was to stand for $7,500 live foal in Kentucky.

Midway Road won seven races, including the Grade 3 Fayette and Grade 3 Ben Ali, both at Keeneland. He also finished second to Funny Cide in the 2003 Preakness. His final race was a victory in the Tenacious Handicap at Fair Grounds in December 2004. Owned and bred by Lane's End owner William S. Farish and trained by Neil Howard, Midway Road earned $695,060.

Midway Road, 5, is by Jade Hunter out of the stakes-winning Magesterial mare Fleet Road.
