Michael Burns Midnight Miley wins the La Lorgnette Stakes by a head Sunday at Woodbine.

ETOBICOKE, Ontario – Midnight Miley, a 23-1 supplement, held off a late bid from the 3-5 favorite Don’t Leave Me to land her first stakes Sunday at Woodbine in the $129,750 La Lorgnette.

Jesse Campbell had Midnight Miley pressing slow fractions, set by Tippany, in the 1 1/16-mile route for 3-year-old fillies. Midnight Miley made the lead in midstretch and dug in gamely to prevail by a head over Don’t Leave Me in a time of 1:44.96.

Dyna’s Recoleta rallied wide for third, while Classyshadesofgrey dead-heated for fourth with Shesanaturalblonde.

Midnight Miley ($48.90) banked $75,000 for Little Red Feather Racing and trainer Julie Carey, who said she opted for the La Lorgnette instead of plan A, a second-level allowance.

“We already tried stakes company a couple of times, but this race came up with a light field,” said Carey. “It’s always nice to stay in your own age group. It was very tempting. It all worked out.”
