Midnight Lute colt breezes fast furlong for OBS June sale

A Midnight Lute colt on Thursday became the third juvenile to tie for the fastest one-furlong breeze time at the Ocala Breeders’ Sales Co. June 2-year-olds and horses of racing age sale’s under-tack show. The colt, Hip 335, breezed an eighth of a mile in 9 4/5 seconds during the second of the breeze show's four sessions.

The Midnight Lute colt is out of the stakes-placed Giant's Causeway mare Screen Giant, whose two foals to race are both winners. He is from the family of English Group 3 winner Secret History and Grade 1-placed stakes winner Lake Valley. Timber Creek consigns the colt, as agent.

Also during the breeze show’s second session, a Midshipman colt became the fifth juvenile to tie for the fastest quarter-mile time of 20 3/5 seconds at the breeze show.

The colt, Hip 354, is the first foal out of the placed Nobiz Like Shobiz mare Shine a Spotlight. His page features Grade 1 winner Pompeii, and Grade 3 winners Take the Cake, Ground Storm, and Omi. He is consigned by Thoroughbred Champions Training Center.

The OBS June under-tack show continues through Saturday, beginning each day at 7:30 a.m. Eastern. The auction will be held June 13-14, starting at 10:30 a.m.
