Midnight Fantasy holds off Amy's Challenge in Spring Fever Stakes

HOT SPRINGS, Ark. – Midnight Fantasy held off a charging Amy’s Challenge to win the $125,000 Spring Fever by a neck Saturday at Oaklawn Park. It was another length back in third to What a Fox.
The Spring Fever was for fillies and mares over 5 1/2 furlongs. Break Even, the favorite, was part of the pace and finished sixth in what was her first out since August.
Midnight Fantasy ($19.40) tracked the pace in fourth as Mt. Brave set pressured fractions of 21.43 seconds for the opening quarter and 45.10 for the half-mile. Midnight Fantasy came into the stretch four wide and went on to cover the distance on a fast track in 1:03.61.

The win was the second on the program for the connections. They teamed to win the sixth race with Classy Act ($31), an allowance sprint for fillies and mares worth $94,000. The allowance and the Spring Fever were the two richest offerings on the card Saturday.
Midnight Fantasy came into the Spring Fever off a runner-up finish to Grade 2 winner Minit to Stardom in the Louisiana Premier Night Matron at Delta Downs. Midnight Fantasy has now won 5 of 12 starts, and the first-place check of $75,000 on Saturday pushed her earnings to $327,180. She was winning her fourth stakes in the Spring Fever.
