Midnight Bisou, Monomoy Girl, and Uni to sell at Fasig-Tipton fall mixed sale

Eclipse Award champions Monomoy Girl, Midnight Bisou, and Uni will be offered for sale at the Fasig-Tipton Kentucky fall selected mixed sale the evening of Nov. 8. The sale is set for one day after all three champions may start at the Breeders' Cup at nearby Keeneland, with a compelling rematch between Monomoy Girl and Midnight Bisou a possible headliner.
The three mares, who race for partnerships that share some common threads, will all be consigned by Elite Sales, as agent.
“This is a-once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to offer three champions in the prime of their careers," Elite Sales’ Bradley Weisbord said in a release. “They aren’t one-hit wonders; they have been leaders in their divisions since they hit the racetrack. With these unprecedented times, we look forward to speaking with all interested parties as these mares will appeal to anyone around the world looking to target the highest end of the Thoroughbred industry.”
Monomoy Girl, owned by Monomoy Stables, Michael Dubb, The Elkstone Group, and Bethlehem Stables, has crossed the wire first in 13 of her 14 starts, and has never been worse than second. The daughter of Tapizar won the 2018 Kentucky Oaks and Breeders' Cup Distaff, defeating Midnight Bisou in both. Her only blemish in that championship season came when she was disqualified to second behind Midnight Bisou in the Grade 1 Cotillion Stakes for interference. This year, Monomoy Girl returned from a layoff of more than 18 months, and has won all three of her starts, most recently the Grade 1 La Troienne Stakes on Kentucky Oaks Day.
In addition to her Cotillion victory, Midnight Bisou was a Grade 1 winner of the Santa Anita Oaks in 2018. With Monomoy Girl on the sidelines, Midnight Bisou took her turn in the spotlight as the Eclipse Award champion older female of 2019, winning seven of her eight starts for Bloom Racing Stable, Madaket Stables, and Allen Racing. That included Grade 1 wins in the Apple Blossom, Ogden Phipps, and Personal Ensign, and a runner-up effort in the Breeders' Cup Distaff. The Midnight Lute mare is a graded stakes winner again this season, and was second in the $20 million Saudi Cup to champion Maximum Security.
Uni, last year’s Breeders’ Cup Mile winner and champion female turf horse, completes the trio for owners Michael Dubb, Head of Plains Partners, Robert LaPenta, and Bethlehem Stables. A three-time Grade 1 winner, the daughter of More Than Ready set a Keeneland course record last fall when posting a dominant win in the Grade First Lady before her Breeders’ Cup Mile triumph at Santa Anita.
