Miami Valley: Track record for Sea Silk in first start of 2022

Sea Silk, who went eight-for-eight in the Buckeye State last year before adding a Grand Circuit win at The Red Mile and a third in the elimination and a second in the final of the Breeders Crown, started off her sophomore campaign with a track record 1:50 2/5 win in the second of two Ohio Sires Stakes tests for 3-year-old pacing fillies on Wednesday at Miami Valley Gaming and Raceway.
Driven by Chris Page, Sea Silk was third at the 27 3/5 opening quarter set by Dragons Revenge (Dan Noble), then came to the outside just past that marker. Sea Silk moved up to challenge Dragons Revenge as they raced under the finish line the first time, and Noble continued to stretch Sea Silk out until after a 54 3/5 half before releasing her to the front.
Once she had command, Sea Silk sailed through three-quarters in 1:22 3/5, and a 27 4/5 last quarter got her to the wire two lengths ahead of Dragons Revenge. Coastal (Ronnie Wrenn Jr.) turned a second-over trip into a third-place result.
A daughter of Downbytheseaside bred by Steiner Stock Farm, Sea Silk is trained by Ron Burke for owners Burke Racing Stable LLC., Weaver Bruscemi LLC., Knox Services Inc., and Hatfield Stables. She has compiled a record of 10-1-1 from 12 career starts, and she pushed her bankroll to $611,592. Sent off at 1-9, Sea Silk paid $2.20 to win.
Gabbys C Note (Aaron Merriman), the reigning Ohio Sires Stakes champion for filly trotters, also began her defense of that title with a victory, taking their second $55,000 flight in 1:55 2/5. Away in second, Gabbys C Note went by Sandis Commando L (Hank Le Van) to take charge prior to the 28 3/5 opening quarter. From there, Gabbys C Note put up fractions of 58 2/5 and 1:27 1/5 on her way to a two length victory over Favorite Aunt (Brett Miller). Toast The Host (Trace Tetrick) got third.
Chris Beaver trains Gabbys C Note, a Triumphant Caviar filly, and also co-owns her with his mother Johanna and their partner Steven Zeehandelar. Johanna Beaver also bred Gabbys C Note, who is now a seven-time winner from ten tries and an earner of $291,150. Gabbys C Note was the 2-5 choice and returned $2.80 to win.

In the first Ohio Sires Stakes tilt for pacing fillies, 12-1 shot Secret Side Piece (Cameron McCown) had a third-over trip and rallied strongly through the lane to catch leader Cape Cod Hanover (Page) and register the win by a nose in 1:51 4/5. Do It Like Bobbi (Tony Hall) got third.
Secret Side Piece, another filly by Downbytheseaside, is trained by Brian Brown for owner Black Magic Racing LLC. The Spring Haven Farm-bred has a trio of triumphs from ten attempts, and she has now pocketed $135,449. She paid $27.20 to win.
Kirsi Dream (Hall) angled out of the two-hole on the final bend, overhauled leader and favorite Toes In The Water (Tetrick) and kicked clear in the stretch to take the first grouping for trotting fillies in 1:54 4/5. She defeated Brekkenridge (Merriman) by 3 1/2 lengths, while Toes In The Water had to settle for third.
The victorious daughter of Uncle Peter is trained by Miles Wollam for owner Dark Horse Farm LLC. Bred by Cornerstone Stock Farm, Kirsi Dream made her third appearance in the winner's circle in her tenth trip behind the gate, and she has now stashed away $75,624. Dispatched at 7-2, she returned $9.00 to win.
