Mia Mischief works toward Honorable Miss

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – Mia Mischief, among the leaders of the older female dirt sprinters in the country, worked five furlongs in 1:00.15 Friday morning over the Oklahoma training track. She is pointing to the Grade 2, $200,000 Honorable Miss Handicap here on July 24.
“She’s training so good,” trainer Steve Asmussen said.
Mia Mischief has won three of four starts this year, including the Grade 1 Humana Distaff and the listed Roxelena Stakes, both at Churchill Downs.

Asmussen noted that Mia Mischief does her best running at Churchill Downs and Saratoga – she finished second twice here last year including a neck loss in the Grade 1 Test. That’s why Asmussen wants to run Mia Mischief in both the Honorable Miss and the Grade 1 Ballerina on Aug. 24.
“I do like the timing from the Roxelena to the Honorable Miss back to the Ballerina,” Asmussen said. “The timing of those races works out as well as the timing of the three races that culminated in her winning the Humana Distaff.”
