Jockey Gerard Melancon swept the Friday night stakes at Delta Downs, where he guided Inspeightofyou to a 3 1/4-length victory in the $80,000 Owner Appreciation Distaff and La Mistake to a front-running score in the $80,000 Azalea.

The restricted stakes were part of the penultimate program of the meet. The season closes Saturday night with two additional stakes.

Inspeightofyou ($6.60) stalked the pace set by Vieja Luna, who put up fractions of 22.93 seconds for the opening quarter, 47.45 for the half-mile, and 1:12.66 for six furlongs. Inspeightofyou took over from there and went on to cover the mile on a fast track in 1:40.07.

The Owner Appreciation Distaff was restricted to fillies and mares who had made at least one start at the Delta meet that opened in October.

Maggi Moss owns Inspeightofyou, a daughter of Speightstown trained by Tom Amoss. The winner earned $48,000 and improved her career record to four wins from 15 starts for earnings of $133,240.

Babybluesbdancing finished second to Inspeightofyou, while it was another length back to favorite Hyper Piper in third.

In the Azalea, for 3-year-old fillies bred in Louisiana, winner La Mistake took over after a half-mile in 47.71 seconds and went on to cover the 6 1/2 furlongs on a fast track in 1:20.13. She won by 3 3/4 lengths over Yes Gorgeous, while it was another 6 1/4 lengths back to Fame Feather in third.

The race was restricted to non-winners of a sweepstakes.

Brett Brinkman trains La Mistake for Cantrell Family Partnership. La Mistake is a daughter of Bind. She earned $48,000 in the Azalea to improve her career record to three wins from four starts and $96,600 in earnings.
