Mekko Hokte rallies to take Delta Miss Stakes

Bossier City, La. - Mekko Hokte took advantage of a spirited duel between favored Hannah's Royalrock and Hadif's Allstar and rallied from off the pace under Tim Doocy to prevail by a head over Hadif's Allstar in Sunday's $30,000 Delta Miss Stakes at Louisiana Downs. Obligatory was four lengths further back in third, followed by a tiring Hannah's Royalrock.

Owned by W. P. Lerblance, Jr. and trained by Kenny Smith, Mekko Hokte ($10.00) picked up her first stakes win and covered the six and a half furlongs in 1:17.99 over a fast track. She earned $18,000 for her connections and has now banked just under $35,000 in her four-race career, during which she has never finished worse than second.
