Medaglia d'Oro has shot to sweep summer marquee races

Medaglia d’Oro competed with distinction in the Travers at Saratoga and the Pacific Classic at Del Mar. He will now have the chance to take down both in the same season as a sire.
Medaglia d’Oro’s nine Grade 1 or Group 1 wins or placings included a triumph in the 2002 Travers Stakes at Saratoga. The following season, after winning the Whitney Handicap at the Spa, he headed cross-country for a runner-up finish in the Pacific Classic behind Candy Ride at Del Mar.
Medaglia d’Oro was represented by the Pacific Classic winner last Saturday when Higher Power rolled by 5 1/4 lengths over Draft Pick. Draft Pick is a son of Candy Ride. Higher Power capped a Grade 1 double for Medaglia d’Oro, as one race prior his daughter Cambier Parc won the Del Mar Oaks.

Now, eyes turn to the Runhappy Travers Stakes on Saturday at Saratoga, where Medaglia d’Oro will be represented by Endorsed. Endorsed races as a homebred for Godolphin, which stands Medaglia d’Oro in Kentucky. The lightly raced colt has won two of his four starts. He returned from a layoff of more than eight months to win a Belmont allowance on June 23, then finished second in the Curlin Stakes in late July at Saratoga.
