ETOBICOKE, Ontario - Trainer Terry Jordan won the $125,800 Victorian Queen Stakes for the second year in a row Saturday at Woodbine. Jordan's entrant, the speedy Medabuck, broke sharp under Jim McAleney, and proceeded to set fractions of 22.45 and 45.46 seconds in the six-furlong dash for 2-year-old fillies. The maiden Bubbles to the Top was the main danger through the stretch, but Medabuck held on for a half-length tally, in a time of 1:10.16. Shadowsinthenight wound up third, and second choice Lucky Be Me finished fifth in the seven-horse field of Ontario-sired runners. Medabuck returned $5 as the favorite, and collected $75,000 for owner James Redekop. “She acts very good and professional,” said Jordan, who won last year’s Victorian Queen with Oistins. “I think she’s going to be heard from later on. She’s got a lot of determination.” * Sugar Bay ($4.30) wore down pacemaker Mullins Beach before drawing off to take Saturday’s supporting feature, the seven-furlong, $100,000 Belle Geste Stakes. The Mac Benson-trained Sugar Bay prevailed by 2 1/4 lengths under Luis Contreras, in a time of 1:24.05 over a course labeled good.
