Mean Season fine after loss

HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. – Trainer Bill Mott said that Mean Season “looked good and jogged sound” Monday at Payson Park, less than 48 hours after being vanned off following his last-place finish in Saturday’s Grade 3 Gulfstream Park Sprint. The loss was the first in four starts for the speedster and the second time in as many starts that he received a ride back to the barn after the race. He also was vanned off due to a leg injury following his optional-claiming win at Aqueduct last March.
Aside from the Gulfstream Park Sprint, it was a pretty good weekend for Mott. The Hall of Fame horseman sent out Long On Value to upset the Grade 3 Canadian Turf and Riposte to finish second in the Grade 3 The Very One on Saturday, then came back to win three more races on Sunday’s card, including a maiden special weight dash with first-time starter Find Fault, a 3-year-old daughter of Blame owned by Amerman Racing.
