The Meadows: Ron Burke collects 15,000th training victory

Night Watchman, a 7-year-old He's Watching gelding driven by Ronnie Wrenn Jr., took Saturday afternoon's seventh race at The Meadows in 1:53 1/5, giving trainer Ron Burke his 15,000th victory.

Burke's win total is nearly twice that of second-place Virgil Morgan Jr. (7,567), and he also out-paces all-time leading Thoroughbred trainer Steve Asmussen (10,620). Burke also has more tallies than all but three North American-based drivers - Dave Palone (20,936), Tony Morgan (17,707) and Aaron Merriman (15,857).

As usual, Burke is tops in the yearly standings for victories (499) and earnings ($11,760,763).
