The Meadows: PA Sire Stakes tilts won by Mr Big Spender, Highball Hanover
Mr Big Spender and Highball Hanover got the job done in a pair of $57,888 Pennsylvania Sire Stakes divisions for rookie trotting colts and geldings on Saturday afternoon's card at Hollywood Casino at The Meadows.
Driven by Mike Wilder in the first split, Mr Big Spender settled in third to the 28 3/5 quarter, then tipped to the outside to challenge False Dogma (Chris Lems) in the second quarter. Mr Big Spender cleared that foe for command nearing the 57 1/5 half and would go on to three-quarters in 1:26 before he trotted a 29 4/5 final quarter to prevail by two lengths in 1:55 4/5. False Dogma ended up second and TJ's Dream (Dave Palone) collected third.
Norm Parker trains Mr Big Spender, a Captain Corey colt bred by Kentuckiana Farms, for owners Bart and Todd Brice. Mr Big Spender has a summary of 4-0-1 from five starts, has pocketed $74,838 and paid $3.20 to win.

In the other flight Tymal Kryptonite (Brady Brown) cut the quarter in 28 3/5 but was overtaken by Highball Hanover (Jeremy Indof) beyond that marker. Highball Hanover maintained his spot on the front-end through middle-half stations of 58 2/5 and 1:27 3/5, and his 28 4/5 last panel sealed his victory by a length in 1:56 2/5. Tymal Kryptonite held second from a first-over R Tommy Collins (Tom Svrcek).
Highball Hanover is a colt by Bar Hopping and is trained by Noel Daley for owners Sjoblom Racing & M. Dolan, Joe Sbrocco & Jaf Racing, Caviart Farms and P C Wellwood Enterprises Inc. The Hanover Shoe Farms-bred broke his maiden in his third attempt, has banked $40,875 and returned $6.40 to win.
