My Girl EJ lowered the track record for a 3-year-old filly pacer at The Meadows to 1:48 4/5 in a dominating victory in the $104,225 Quinton Patterson Adioo Volo on Saturday afternoon.
Lou Lou (Ronnie Wrenn Jr.), one of three Ron Burke-trained horses in the race, blasted to the point from post four, cut a 25 4/5 quarter and forced Sarasota Hanover (Todd McCarthy) to duck into the pocket. Lou Lou and Wrenn Jr. then made a brushing-from-third Geocentric (Tim Tetrick) work until just before a 53 4/5 half before releasing her. Watching all that from fifth was My Girl EJ (Dexter Dunn), and Dunn put her in motion first-up past the half, followed by another Burke entrant Canigetalouploup (David Miller).
Geocentric managed to keep the top spot to three-quarters in 1:21 2/5, but My Girl EJ had made her way into a joint second at that marker and sustained her brush to blow past Geocentric about midway through the final bend. From there, My Girl EJ had no anxious moments as she sailed home to score by 2 3/4 lengths over Canigetalouploup, giving Burke the exacta. 32-1 shot Asweetbeachhere (James MacDonald) rallied from eighth to third in the final panel.

"She obviously finished last season with a bang and has come back great this year. She's putting in great efforts," Dunn said after the race. "She's a bit of a character post parading and stuff like that, but you can really race her any way you want to. She's a proper racehorse. She knows her job and she wants to do it. Today we sort of got away mid-pack. The speed was on pretty good, and we made our move down the back. She just towed me up so good clear to the top of the straight. I really just eased up on her. She was doing it real easy.
"I knew we were buzzing along pretty good early and got to the half pretty solid, but good horses on a good day on a good track, that's the times they go."
A daughter of Sweet Lou, My Girl EJ was bred by Burke Racing Stable LLC., Weaver Bruscemi LLC. and Elizabeth Novak and is now owned by that trio in partnership with trainer Ron Burke. My Girl EJ has a summary of 9-8-2 from 20 starts, has banked $882,733 and paid $3.80 to win as the 4-5 favorite.
