The Meadows: Hillexotic trots quickest mile in track history

Hillexotic stole the show on Adios Eve at Hollywood Casino at The Meadows by setting an all-age track record of 1:50 3/5 in the $18,000 Open Handicap Trot.

Driven by Dave Palone, the 8-year-old Muscle Hill gelding led the way through fractions of 26 3/5, 55 1/5 and 1:22 2/5 on his way to a 7 1/4 length victory over Emerald's Legacy (Jeremy Indof).

Sent out by Todd Luther for owner Greg Luther Racing, Hillexotic missed the world record for an older gelding trotter on a five-eighths-mile track by just a fifth of a second. Hillexotic tallied his 33rd career victory, has earned over $1.3 million and paid $3.00 to win.

Elsewhere on the card, 2-year-old trotters competed in $20,000 divisions of the Arden Downs.

Driver Ronnie Wrenn Jr. swept the three contests for the fillies, prevailing with Wendalyn Hanover (by Greenshoe and bred by Hanover Shoe Farms, paid $5 to win) in 1:55 3/5 for trainer Vernon Beachy and owners 518 Group LLC., Ryan Smith and Gitup Racing, Ginger Tree Lex (by Bar Hopping and bred by Hanover Shoe Farms, paid $2.20 to win) in 1:56 for co-owner/trainer Sam Beegle and co-owners Ginger Tree Ventures LLC., Knollview Stable 2 and Robert Reber Jr. and Intisaar Mil (by Bar Hopping and bred by Pimpicks Srl, paid $2.80 to win) in 1:56 2/5 for trainer Vernon Beachy and owners 518 Group LLC., Ryan Smith and Gitup Racing.
