This year's Pennsylvania Stallion Series finals for 2- and 3-year-olds led the action on Saturday afternoon's program at Hollywood Casino at The Meadows.
Driver Ronnie Wrenn Jr. won three of the finals. He joined forces with trainer Ron Burke to take the 3-year-old paces with filly Sandyboots Yankee (by Always B Miki and bred by Yankeeland Partners LLP., paid $2.60 to win) in 1:49 4/5 for owners Burke Racing Stable LLC., Weaver Bruscemi LLC., Larry Karr and Phil Collura and gelding Winnercircleseeker (by Sweet Lou and bred by Randy, Tyler and Zane Wilt, paid $8 to win) in 1:48 3/5 for owners Burke Racing Stable LLC., Larry Karr, Phil Collura and Brad Grant.
Wrenn Jr.'s other triumph came in the 2-year-old colt and gelding trot with Lions Tale (by Bar Hopping and bred by Hanover Shoe Farms, paid $9.20 to win) in 1:55 3/5 for trainer Marcus Melander and owners Brixton Medical Inc. and Hatfield Stables.

A trio of upsets also occurred during the finals, starting with 2-year-old filly pacer Odds On Wonderful (by Stay Hungry and bred by Princeton Farms Inc. and 1876472 Ontario Inc., winning in 1:51 3/5 for driver Mike Wilder and trainer Virgil Morgan Jr.
Also knocking off the favorites and paying double-digits were 2-year-old filly trotter Sevenoops Hanover (by Greenshoe and bred by Hanover Shoe Farms, paid $19.80 to win) in 1:55 3/5 for driver Matt Kakaley, trainer Petter Engblom and owners Engblom Farm LLC., Evans Nation and Hickory Hollow Stables and 3-year-old filly trotter Just Teasing (by Captain Corey and bred by co-owner Windsong Stable, paid $19.40 to win) in 1:52 4/5 for co-owner/driver Andy Miller, trainer Julie Miller and co-owner Jean Goehlen.
Rounding out this year's Stallion Series champions were 2-year-old gelding pacer Celtic Wave (by Captaintreacherous and bred by co-owner Kiefer Elite Bldstock LLC. with Martin Michalik and Jose Bisono, paid $3.40 to win) in 1:50 4/5 for driver Corey Callahan, co-owner/trainer John Berger and co-owner Theresa Donnelly and 3-year-old gelding trotter Emmett Hanover (by Greenshoe and bred by Hanover Shoe Farms, paid $5.40 to win) in 1:53 3/5 for driver Aaron Merriman and trainer Justin Pirillo.
Next up in the Keystone State are the Pennsylvania Sire Stakes Championships. The 3-year-olds compete on Sunday afternoon at Harrah's Philadelphia, followed by the 2-year-olds on Monday at Pocono Downs at Mohegan Pennsylvania.
