Frankly My Dear picked up her first career Grand Circuit stakes win by capturing Friday afternoon's $38,345 Arden Downs for 3-year-old filly trotters at The Meadows in a life's-best clocking of 1:55 1/5. Dazzling Reign, driven by Aaron Merriman, blasted to the lead from post six and reached the opening quarter in 28 2/5, but May Karp (Dave Palone) vacated the pocket to take over the top spot beyond that station. After taking command, May Karp was unchallenged through a 57 2/5 half and a 1:26 3/5 three-quarters, but Frankly My Dear (Ronnie Wrenn Jr.) pulled first-over out of third and took up the chase passing the latter marker. On the far turn Frankly My Dear took over the second spot, and then in the lane she was able to sustain her brush, going by May Karp on her way to a 2 1/4 length decision in 1:55 1/5. May Karp held second over Dazzling Reign, with Night Flyer K (Dan Rawlings), Kommin On Strong (Chris Shaw), and Extra Fancy (Tony Hall) rounding out the order. "Last time out in the Currier & Ives, she got in a bad spot," Wrenn Jr. said. "She was on the right line, and it was a little tough to steer her in the last turn. Today, I just wanted to get away decent. She has one really good move, and I was able to use it. She's a nice filly, but she's more of a trip horse." A Hambletonian Oaks eligible, Frankly My Dear, a daughter of Southwind Frank bred by Ray Schnittker and Temple Of Athena Stable, is trained by Ron Burke for owners Burke Racing Stable LLC., Knox Services Inc., J&T Silva- Purnel & Libby, and Weaver Bruscemi LLC. She now has a record of 3-2-6 from 18 career starts, has earned $137,640, and paid $7.80 to win as the 5-2 second choice. --Wrenn Jr. quote courtesy of The Meadows Standardbred Owners Association--
