The Meadows: Favorites toppled in Thursday's Keystone Classics

Two-year-old colts and geldings took their turns in the Keystone Classic on Thursday afternoon at Hollywood Casino at The Meadows.

In the $69,900 pace, Hungry Marco (Brady Brown) raced in the three-hole and the pocket through fractions of 26 4/5, 56 and 1:23, then rallied in the passing lane to defeat Atomix Hanover (Anthony MacDonald), who had taken command on the far turn when leader Stonebridge Blitz (Ronnie Wrenn Jr.) made a break, by a head in 1:51 4/5. Lounado (Austin Hanners) finished third.

Jamie Sullivan trains Hungry Marco, a Stay Hungry colt bred by Hot Lead Farm, for owners David Hamm, Glenn Phillips and Frank Chick. He has a summary of 5-1-3 from nine starts, has earned $99,082 and paid $19.40 to win as an 8-1 shot.

Sparkling Lindy (Wrenn Jr.) took the first of two $24,175 trots by a length in 1:56 4/5 after he put up the 28 second quarter, the 58 4/5 half and the 1:28 2/5 three-quarters. Hades Hanover (Brady Brown) was the runner-up and Bel Ragazzo (Brian Zendt) came in third.

Trainer Mahlon Martin also owns Sparkling Lindy, a gelded son of International Moni bred by Lindy Farms of Conn. Sparkling Lindy has a trio of wins, two seconds and two thirds from nine appearances, has pocketed $23,350 and returned $5.40 to win as the 8-5 second choice.

1-5 favorite Scarpa (Dave Palone) was on the front-end in a tempo of 28 2/5, 58 1/5 and 1:27 in the second trotting test, but he was worn down late by first-over Green To Go (Zendt), who prevailed by a neck in 1:55 4/5. Bigmanballin (Mike Wilder) collected third.

A Fashion Farms-bred gelding by Greenshoe, Green To Go is owned by trainer D.R. Ackerman. Green To Go has a pair of victories to go with two runner-up efforts from eight trips behind the gate, has put away $32,912 and paid $10 to win as a 4-1 offering.
