The Meadows: Endurance blows away his foes in Currier & Ives
Endurance showed again why he is a major contender for this year's Hambletonian with a stakes record 1:52 4/5 win in the $90,675 Currier & Ives for 3-year-old male trotters on Friday night at Hollywood Casino at The Meadows.
With regular driver Andy McCarthy in town to pilot him, Endurance floated away from post nine and dropped in sixth past the 27 1/5 quarter that was cut by R Tommy Collins (Justin Irvine). McCarthy then brought Endurance back to the outside to pick up cover from a parked-out Tymal Kryptonite (Shawn Johnston) coming to the 55 2/5 half-mile marker.

Not wanting to sit behind a foe who'd been two-wide from the start any longer than he had to, McCarthy fired Endurance three-wide to take up the first-over position en route to the 1:24 1/5 three-quarters and then went past R Tommy Collins with ease on the last turn. From there, Endurance widened on the field to the wire, defeating Hamlet Hall (Dave Palone) by 3 3/4 lengths. Captain Vodka (Chris Lems) was third, followed by Jackie Jann (Wilbur Yoder) and Cindy Lou Goo (Brian Zendt).
A Captain Corey colt bred by Steve Stewart and Martti Ala-Seppala, Endurance is trained by Chris Beaver for owner Super Endurance Stable, Bill Manes, Leo Fleming and Mark Moger. He has a summary of 9-2-0 from 12 starts, has banked $778,038 and paid $2.20.
