The Meadows: Eastie Boy heads Burke-trained trifecta in PA Sire Stakes
Eastie Boy, a full brother to double Dan Patch Award recipient Louprint, was a 1:50 2/5 winner of Friday evening's $129,491 Pennsylvania Sire Stakes contest for 2-year-old male pacers at Hollywood Casino at The Meadows.
Driven by Ronnie Wrenn Jr., Eastie Boy watched on the outside from third as Stonebridge Blitz (Dave Palone) led early but was overtaken by Crunchstyle (Ridge Warren) nearing the 26 3/5 quarter. Eastie Boy then pushed forward and took charge on the way to the 55 2/5 half. After getting shuffled back to third, Palone made another move with Stonebridge Blitz, sending him first-over and battling with Ron Burke stablemate Eastie Boy to three-quarters and around the final bend.
In the stretch Eastie Boy put away Stonebridge Blitz and kicked clear to win by a length and a quarter. Loud Luxury (Tim Tetrick), a third Burke-trained horse in the race, closed well in the final quarter and went from fifth to second, with Stonebridge Blitz back in third.
