The Meadows: Dunn, Campbell each collect a pair of Pennsylvania Sire Stakes victories

Trainer Jim Campbell and driver Dexter Dunn both recorded doubles in Pennsylvania Sire Stakes action for 3-year-old filly trotters on Saturday afternoon at The Meadows.
Campbell and Dunn joined forces with Millies Possesion in the third $42,600 split, and she would win in a career-best 1:54. She parked the first three eighths to get to the front, reached the half in 57 3/5, and then came under attack from a first-over Southwind Casha (Dave Palone) to the 1:25 2/5 three-quarters. Millies Possesion managed to put her away on the far turn, but then pocket-sitter Personal Paradise took her shot up the passing lane in the stretch. Millies Possesion still had something left to deal with that bid, though, winning by a neck. Southwind Casha held third.
Millies Possesion is a Possess The Will filly trained Jim Campbell for owner/breeder Fashion Farms LLC. Unraced as a rookie, she has won all three of her attempts in 2019, and she has earned $48,600. She was the 2-5 choice and paid $2.80 to win.
Dunn's other PaSS win came in the final $42,600 flight with 13-1 shot Antonia. She raced in fourth at the 27 4/5 opening quarter and 57 2/5 half, then improved to third at the 1:25 4/5 three-quarters as pocket-sitter and favorite American Kronos (Yannick Gingras) made a break. Dunn angled Antonia out on the final bend, and she came with the best kick in the stretch, getting around leader Fade Into You and winning by a length in a lifetime-best 1:54 3/5. Campbell trainee Swizzle Sticks (David Miller) also out-finished Fade Into You to get up for second.
Nifty Norman trains Antonia, a daughter of Donato Hanover, for owners Mel Hartman, Little E LLC., and Pinske Stables. She is now a three-time winner from 11 tries, and she has put away $75,312. She returned $28.20 to win.
While the Campbell/Miller tandem finished second in that event, earlier they had won the second sire stakes showdown on the card with Jazzy Fashion in 1:54 1/5, giving her a new speed badge as well. Jazzy Fashion got away in the fifth spot, but thanks to navigating her way around breaking horses through the race, she wound up in the pocket on the far turn and had dead-aim at leader Nomo Volo (Jeff Gregory), who had posted fractions of 27 2/5, 57 1/5, and 1:25 3/5. Miller tipped Jazzy Fashion two-wide in the lane, and she chased down the pace-setter, winning by three-parts of a length. Grimmie Hanover (Palone) was the third-place finisher.
A filly by Donato Hanover, Jazzy Fashion is owned by Fashion Farms LLC. Jazzy Fashion made her third appearance in the winner's circle, and she has banked $42,888. A 5-1 offering, Jazzy Fashion paid $12.20 to win.
The lone lass able to break the Dunn/Campbell strangehold on the proceedings was Ron Burke pupil Firedbylindie (Matt Kakaley), who captured the day's opening flight in a career-best 1:54. Firedbylindie settled third from the pole position while Matter Of Fact (Mattias Melander) and Asiago (Gingras) battled to the 27 2/5 opening quarter, with Asiago taking control past that point. Asiago would go on to the half in 56 3/5 and the three-quarters in 1:25, but Firedbylindie, who vacated the cones on the far turn, got up in the lane to down a passing lane-rallying Matter Of Fact by a head. Magical Beliefs (D. Miller) was up for third.
Burke Racing Stable LLC., Weaver Bruscemi LLC., and Phil Collura own Firedbylindie, a daughter of Explosive Matter. She has six victories in her career, and she now shows earnings of $79,450. Sent off at 6-9, she returned $15.80 to win.
