The Meadows: Dream Shaq, Red Andray reign in Pennsylvania Sire Stakes

Dream Shaq remained undefeated, while Red Andray posted his second straight stakes victory, in a pair of Pennsylvania Sire Stakes races for 2-year-old male trotters on Friday evening at Hollywood Casino at The Meadows.

Racing in a $54,645 non-betting contest prior to the pari-mutuel program, Dream Shaq (Mattias Melander) brushed from third to first past the 29 3/5 quarter, and after he put up a 59 1/5 half and a 1:27 4/5 three-quarters, he sailed home in 28 2/5 to win by 4 1/2 lengths in 1:56 1/5. The Reason (Mike Wilder) got second, followed by Sa's Tiki Bar (Shawn Johnston).

A Father Patrick colt bred by Morrison Racing Stables, Dream Shaq was sent out by Marcus Melander for owners Brixton Medical Inc. and Hatfield Stables. Dream Shaq has won all three of his outings and has pocketed $70,444.

In the $55,045 split on the regular card, Red Andray (Wilder) tracked Big Time Trot S (Dave Palone) from the pocket through panels of 28 1/5, 58 2/5 and 1:28, went two-wide on the final bend, trotted around Big Time Trot S and pulled away to score by three lengths in 1:56 3/5. Big Time Trot S made a late break, and following an inquiry, was placed from second to third for violating the breaking rules, promoting Emulous Hanover (Brian Zendt) to the runner-up spot.

Norm Parker trains Red Andray, a colt by Captain Corey, for owners Bart Brice, Todd Brice and Andray Farm. The Sergent Stables-bred has a summary of 2-2-0 from five starts, has put away $42,522 and paid $8.40 to win.
