The Meadows: Captain Cowgirl scores in PA Sire Stakes

Captain Cowgirl posted her third straight victory in the Pennsylvania Sire Stakes program by capturing Saturday's lone $132,231 division for 3-year-old pacing fillies at The Meadows in 1:50 3/5.
Starting from the outside post six in the event, Captain Cowgirl fired out with Tim Tetrick at the lines and cleared early leader Lydeo (Mike Wilder) for the top spot after a 26 3/5 opening quarter. Once she got control of the race, Captain Cowgirl hit the half in just 56 seconds before picking up the tempo again to 1:23 1/5 at three-quarters. A 27 2/5 final kicker sealed the deal, with Captain Cowgirl winning by a pair of lengths over a late-closing Sweet Treasure (Andy McCarthy). Lydeo wound up third.
