Meadowlands: Yo Tillie hangs tough in Miss Versatility Series

Yo Tillie got back to her winning ways by taking the third leg of the Miss Versatility Series for older trotting mares on Saturday night at the Meadowlands in 1:51.

Driven by Todd McCarthy, Yo Tillie pressed forward two-wide to take the lead away from Miracle Maven (Yannick Gingras) beyond the 27 3/5 quarter and kept it to the half in 56 1/5 and the three-quarters in 1:23 4/5 as Conversano (Lauren Tritton) made steady progress after she went first-over out of the fourth spot. Yo Tillie and Conversano would battle all the way down the stretch and to the wire, but Yo Tillie held on by a nose, with Walspea (Trond Smedshammer) third. Bravo Angel S (Jason Bartlett) and Miracle Maven rounded out the top five.

A 4-year-old daughter of Tactical Landing bred by GBW Breeding Farms Inc. and Black Creek Farm, Yo Tillie is trained by Andrew Harris for Punisher 11 Stable LLC. She has a summary of 22-3-1 from 30 starts, has earned $1,376,915 and paid $5.40 to win.

One more Miss Versatility Series prelim is set to take place at the Meadowlands on September 4 prior to the $100,000 (est.) final at the Delaware (Ohio) County Fairgrounds on Little Brown Jug Day - September 24.
