Meadowlands: Twin B Joe Fresh among those victorious in qualifiers

Defending Horse of the Year Twin B Joe Fresh was a 1:53 winner in her first qualifying race of 2025 on Saturday morning at the Meadowlands.

Driven by co-owner Dexter Dunn, Twin B Joe Fresh led through fractions of 28 3/5, 57 3/5 and 1:26 1/5, then sprinted home in 26 4/5 to tally by open lengths. The 5-year-old Roll With Joe mare is co-owned by Dunn with trainer Chris Ryder, Peter Trebotica and Barry Spak. She has earned $2,335,765 and has a record of 30-7-1 from 40 lifetime tries.

Dunn also guided Dan Patch Award winners Champagne Problems (1:56) and Miki And Minnie (1:52 1/5) to victories in their respective qualifiers. Champagne Problems, a daughter of Tactical Landing, was sent out by Nancy Takter while Miki And Minnie, an Always B Miki filly, is trained by Ryder.

Takter also had wins with 3-year-old Tactical Landing filly My BFF Annee (1:55 3/5) with Josert Fonseca in the bike and Kendra, a 3-year-old daughter of Walner, in 1:55 3/5 with Todd McCarthy driving. My BFF Annee is a full sister to last year's Hambletonian champion Karl.

Another trainer to send out multiple victors was Andrew Harris. His winning charges were 3-year-old Cantab Hall colt Hatfield (1:54 4/5) with McCarthy driving, 3-year-old Cattlewash colt Power Code (1:53 1/5) with Dunn at the controls and Captain Luke, a 4-year-old son of Captaintreacherous who romped on the front-end in 1:50 for Scott Zeron.

The other winners during the session were:

*3-year-old Bar Hopping colt Bortobarosso As in 1:53 2/5 for Andy and Julie Miller
*4-year-old Met's Hall gelding Sir Pinoccho in 1:52 1/5 for Jason Bartlett and Ed Hart
*3-year-old Downbytheseaside colt Sippinonsearoc in 1:51 3/5 for Yannick Gingras and Ron Burke
*3-year-old American History colt Making History in 1:52 2/3 for Brett Beckwith and Tony Alagna
*5-year-old Captaintreacherous stallion Ken Hanover in 1:50 3/5 for David Miller and Rollie Mallar
*3-year-old Captain Crunch filly Job Crunch in 1:53 for David Miller and Tom Fanning
*3-year-old Stay Hungry filly Shangri La Hanover in 1:54 2/5 for Scott Zeron and Linda Toscano
