Meadowlands: Track record mile turned in by Jujubee

Jujubee broke the track record for a 3-year-old colt trotter at the Meadowlands when he won a $50,000 Muscle Hill division in 1:49 4/5 for driver Tony Hall and trainer Greg Wright Jr.
Hall sent Jujubee out of there fast from post four and then yielded to 1-5 favorite Dancinginthedark M (Tim Tetrick) just past the 27 1/5 opening quarter. From there, Dancinginthedark M was unchallenged through a 55 2/5 half and a 1:23 three-quarters, but he couldn't shake Jujubee, who remained right on Tetrick's helmet in the two-hole.

In the lane Jujubee angled to the outside, and he was able to forge his way by Dancinginthedark M inside the final eighth of the mile. Dancinginthedark M then rolled into a late break to boot, sealing Jujubee's three-quarters of a length victory. Ethan T Hanover (Dexter Dunn) finished back in third.
The clocking knocked a fifth of a second off Six Pack's prior standard of 1:50 set on July 14, 2018.
A Creatine colt, Jujubee is a homebred for Jon Erdner. Jujubee has a record of 12-4-1 from 18 career tries, and he has now earned $173,607. Sent off at 7-2, he paid $9.40 to win.
