Best Bet: HE'S AN AMERICAN (4th)

Spot Play: GIVE UP THE GHOST (3rd)

Race 1 - $25,000 Guaranteed Pick Five Pool

Race 3 - $25,000 Guaranteed Pick Four Pool

Race 7 - $40,000 Guaranteed Pick Four Pool

MEET STATS: 143 - 462 / $730.60 (-$193.40)

BEST BETS: 21 - 39 / $81.80 (+$3.80)

Race 1

In terms of form and quality, this field is as bad as it gets at The Meadowlands. I’m going to roll the dice with (2) DEBT OF HONOR. He should sit reasonably close to the pace and could trip-out at a price. (8) STORMIN RUSTLER will almost certainly be the favorite, but it’s been a long time between wins for this guy. (6) PERFECT TERROR finds the best spot he has seen in a few weeks; playable. (1) FRATERNITY has early speed; wake up not impossible.

Race 2

(6) KEENAN has proven capable from on or off the pace and seems like a good fit in a competitive amateur event. (7) KARETS destroyed amateur foes in consecutive starts before the miscue last week. (4) SIM BROWN came up second best last time but I like the driver change to Marohn. (1) EXTREME YANKEE goes to post for the Amateur of the Year.

Race 3

(5) GIVE UP THE GHOST did her best as a 3-year-old filly keeping up with top older mare Krispy Apple in a recent qualifier. Overall that was a decent mile. Ray Schnittker trainee tends to send them out ready and she showed enough at 2 to think she can handle this crew. (7) BIG BAD BEACH seems likely to go off as the favorite for the fourth time in five starts but has yet to pick up a win during that time. (4) SYDNEYDREAMWEAVER picked up a confidence-building win at Yonkers; more now?

Race 4

(7) HE’S AN AMERICAN rolled down the road two starts back with Marohn at the controls and seems like an odds-on favorite to post a repeat performance. (1) TOSS CARTWRIGHT put in a steady qualifier versus a pretty nice trotter last Friday. He seems fresh off the long break. (2) TAC’S DELIGHT has missed a few weeks of action but still looks like a logical player.

Race 5

(4) DOUBLE JOY has been rolling along at Freehold and should offer a slightly better price than (1) FUTURE LIFE, who seeks her fourth straight win at The Meadowlands. (5) JOKES JET completes the sharp trio as she ships in from Monticello on a four-race streak of her own. (3) FRESH SQUEEZED couldn’t handle the uncovered trip a week ago and should be an interesting value play.

Race 6

(5) GIRLLOOKATTHATBODY double drops in class and was stuck behind a wall of horses last week. (8) JUST SAYIN had her issues keeping up with some top older pacing males in a 2/24 qualifier. Trainer Patti Harmon has done well with new arrivals. (7) CANDY STYX N could fire off the wings of the gate here and make some serious noise. (6) VICTORIA MAY N will be on my trifecta tickets at a price.

Race 7

(1) AMPED UP finds a perfect spot. He should flash his usual speed from the cones and secure no worse than a pocket trip. (3) SHADOW’S IMAGE makes his second start off the bench and could certainly find more now. (6) PEDRO’S DREAM is typically involved against this type; worth using. (7) DAYLYN HORIZON steps up a notch off a win.

Race 8

Driver Brett Miller was listed on six of the nine horses in the field and landed on (5) O U SEXY GUY. The Jack Franklin-trained gelding drops in class tonight and should find some early speed. (9) FOX VALLEY STEFFEN is back down in class to a winning level. (3) CELEBRITY STIMULUS has missed some time but does return at a reduced level.

Race 9

(2) SPORTSMUFFLER moves to an inside post and should be battling through the lane with (7) ELIZABETH BLUECHIP for win honors against a rather dull field. (1) FIFTYSHADESOFRUSTY can’t be as bad as her performance last week. (4) TRY N KEEP UP gets a catch-driver back in the bike this week.
