Race 1
(5) PERSUASIVE HANOVER finds a weak field and perhaps weak enough that she can break her 0 for 19 skid this year. Driver change to McCarthy could make the difference. (9) DEPRIVED could very well be the favorite here despite the bad draw, but she hasn’t been able to win of late. (7) OUR ELS DREAM N is capable of firing off the gate. Under that scenario, she would have a chance. (2) SHE’S MY ROCK gets a nice driver change and a better post.
Race 2
(2) FOX VALLEY STEFFEN shows a line five starts back where Jennifer Lappe left hard and pulled off an upset. This looks like the perfect spot to try that strategy again with some of the more logical contenders likely to be closing. (5) HOT SUMMER KNIGHT hasn’t raced in over a month and is off a pair of scratched-sick lines. That said, he’s the best horse in the race; tough call. (4) EYORE HANOVER could be dangerous if Glasser can get him to the top. (6) SERGEANT SEELSTER pulled off a big upset when last seen; capable on best.
Race 3
(3) LADY OF HEAVEN seemed to have something left when stuck in traffic last week. With that start in hand after five months on the sidelines, maybe this 4-year-old can light up the board. (6) LIVE ODDS rallied well in the stretch last week and seems to be coming into form. (1) TEARFUL OF HAPPY drops in claiming price for trainer Ron Burke. She obviously can win but the price may be short. (5) DANGEROUSPRECEDENT is the other likely favorite and clear contender.
Race 4
(4) NO RECESS looks to be dropping in class as he ships in from Saratoga for a barn that is having a good meet here; down the road. (6) CULINARY DELIGHT loses listed driver Brett Miller to the top pick but still gets a nice driver change to Andy Miller. (8) DOWNUNDERMATTER doesn’t like to win but gets his fair share of checks.
Race 5
(3) IWILLMAKEYOUSAYWOW ships back to his favorite track off some even miles out of town. When last here he was up in class with no shot from post 10. He’s 8 for 24 in the win column at Meadowlands the last two years. (2) CALVIN B lacked a big kick last time but does get a key driver change here to McCarthy. (4) SEEL THE DEAL N raced well from a tough spot here last time and now gets class relief; four weeks of a concern.
Race 6
(3) FIREBALL has put up some decent miles in his career and could be in for a nice bump in his first start for this barn. (9) DASH OF DANGER was stuck in stretch traffic costing him a better placing last time; post hurts here. (5) MARTY MONKHOUSER A drops to this class and raced better last out.
Race 7
(2) PUMPED UP KICKS drops again and draws well. He should bring a top effort versus this bunch. (6) TRYS LITTLE PRINCE ships in sharp for a barn that brings them to town ready. (3) A AND C ARTIST stopped after an uncovered journey last time. All of his prior efforts were fine.
Race 8
(4) MEDOLAND JATE took care of business when last seen here at this level. (1) FREESPIN N went a tough trip last time and should enjoy getting away from the sharp Ideal Romance. (2) IDEAL CANDIDATE has some class and is capable of waking up in a spot like this one.
Race 9
(1) IDEAL ROMANCE has won three straight in this class and caught another field he should handle. (7) MY DAD ROCKS flashed good speed last time and was third behind the top choice. Another good placing seems likely. (2) CHARMBRO CURIOUSITY hasn’t been firing of late but the rest of these don’t look much better. (8) SPANISH ART has been closing well.
