Race 1
(6) BULLET BOB steps down the class ladder for the second straight week and really doesn’t have any excuses for failure. (4) LEGION OF BOOM will be sent to the front as usual and could go a long way for a barn that did well last weekend. (7) DOWNTHEHIGHWY has been sharp and does add Gingras. (3) SPICEBOMB is capable of a big mile and might appreciate the switch back to the mile oval.
Race 2
(6) TO BEACH HIS OWN came up second best against similar last week, but can easily turn the tables on (2) CAMTURO BEACH, who set a lifetime mark last time around and seems likely to regress at least slightly. (3) TWINCREEKS JACK finally gets a good post to work with; trip threat. (4) NIGEL TUFNEL has high early speed and should make some noise.
Race 3
(6) IWILLMAKEYOUSAYWOW faced a much more accomplished group last week from an outside post and was never given a fair chance to measure up. Now back down in class with Tetrick aboard, I’m all in. (2) PREPARTY was used hard and hung around nicely last week; pick four saver. (1) MATRIX OF LUCK returns to The Meadowlands at a slightly reduced level and gets Gingras in the bike. (5) OUR REGAL IDEAL N is a complete unknown from Down Under.
Race 4
(6) SINTRA, who got some attention when he received a vote for 3-year-old Pacer of the Year in 2016, has every opportunity to make a name for himself coming off a sharp 1:50 4/5 score at Mohawk. With (2) ROLL AWAY JOE (Burke) and (1) WESTERN FAME (Takter) coming off wins for top trainers, I can see the value with the top choice. At the very least, one of the trio should win.
Race 5
(4) FRATERNITY has a win in this class a couple of starts back and should only improve with Tetrick joining the team. (1) POISON OAK lured Callahan last week and they loomed but couldn’t seal the deal last time; inside post helps. (7) WORKANDPLAYHARD is back down in class and should bring a decent effort. (5) DAYLYN HORIZON has good early speed if Miller chooses to use it.
Race 6
(3) LYONS SNYDER comes off a pair of 1:50 1/5 qualifiers that should have him plenty tight for his 2017 debut. This is no easy spot, but Takter did get Western Fame to fire at first asking last week. (2) BOSTON RED ROCKS qualified nicely and finished well in his first start of the year. I was a bit surprised to see Tetrick pick off for Missile J. (7) CHECK SIX fought gamely in his first start of the year and should get better.
Race 7
While I’m sticking with the likely chalk in (5) RESOLVE, I wouldn’t accept anything under 8-5 on him in this bulky field. Six-year-old qualified back in good order and won this race (if you overlook the dq) easily last year. (7) JL CRUZE probably should have won but did look as good as I’ve seen him recently last week. (6) CRAZY WOW raced well off the bench last time and is eligible to improve. (4) RUBBER DUCK steps up versus the big boys in here and may just be good enough. Toss his line last week as he basically took a tour of the oval. (1) CENTURION ATM has proven he can go with these at times; Brett Miller drives. (10) MUSICAL RHYTHM has overcome the outside here in the past and the extra 1/8 before the first turn should help him gun out.
Race 8
(4) CITY HALL looks dull on paper, but he loves this track and has turned his form around in a hurry before. (6) ROCK N’ ROLL WORLD is sharp and almost certainly will be put in play. (5) RODEO ROMEO comes into this race with form but faces a solid group and might have to work out a trip to succeed. (1) ELRAMA N can menace with a smooth journey.
Race 9
(1) JACKSRLUCKYTOO finally displayed some late life last week and now he drops a level. Five-year-old is in a great spot. (7) ANG’S DELIGHT has been in bad spots at Yonkers lately and could awaken in a hurry. (5) SO TAKE THAT hasn’t thrown in many poor efforts this year; sharp.
Race 10
(4) OCEAN COLONY sprinted clear nicely when asked in the stretch during a strong 1:52 3/5 qualifier. Potential top 3-year-old colt prospect could have his way with this group. (7) ROCKET DA RED impressed last week and a repeat performance would make him tough again. (3) ULTIMATE CREDIT has early speed and could last for a trifecta or exacta appearance.
Race 11
(5) NOCTURNAL BLUECHIP rallied but flattened in his first start since November. He should be tighter now. (3) LAST DRAGON hasn’t had much of a chance from outside posts recently and does get an interesting trainer change here. (4) WAR-N-MUNN has beaten better in the past but sports some ugly lines lately; tough call. (2) BRUCE’S MAGIC has been snaky good of late and does draw better this time around..
