Race 7 - $50,000 Guaranteed Pick Four Pool
MEET STATS: 29 - 65 / $128.00 (-$2.00)
BEST BETS: 5 - 6 / $13.50 (+$1.50)
Race 1
(1) D M REACHER sports a winless record in 13 starts but does get a trainer change and a driver switch to Gingras; angles to like. (6) STRAIGHTOUTACONSIN wasn’t bad upon arrival from an outside post. Tonight’s competition is softer. (7) THINKIN BIG is another one getting a barn and driver change; maybe.
Race 2
(1) SHE’S WATCHING is now perfect in three career starts and could quite possibly be the best 3-year-old pacing filly in the country. Take whatever price you can get. (7) PLANET ROCK wasn’t going to rally from last at Yonkers in her 2017 debut. Daughter of Rock N Roll Heaven has ability and should take a nice step forward at a decent price. (3) SHESAROCKER is a sharp arrival moving into a barn that can certainly get the most out of a horse. (2) WINDSUN BROOKLYN gets a major test in this spot but is razor sharp.
Race 3
(5) MONTALBANO BI hasn’t been on his game for some time now, but I get the impression it is not simply a form thing and he could wake up at any minute. Gingras in the bike could make a difference. (8) MOONLIGHT COCKTAIL faced better foes last week and could be aggressively handled in this spot. (3) GENIUS AT WORK didn’t have it after four weeks off. Gelding could step forward in his second start since the ship up from Florida. (2) STITCH IN TIME should be involved early and last for a piece.
Race 4
(1) ART SCENE was a non-factor in his 3-year-old debut but should be ready to show more now. (8) SAMS TRIPLE CROWN is clearly the sharpest horse in the field and the one to beat. (5) BOLD AND BRASSY comes of a win at Yonkers and is a bit of an unknown on the big track at this point. (2) MAC ATTACK raced well last week and should be close again.
Race 5
(3) CHEROKEE RANGER comes off a sharp mile where he finished second for new connections. This isn’t an easy spot but I’ll give him the slight nod. (2) TO BEACH HIS OWN was used up early and lacked a stretch kick while finishing behind the top choice last week. The road to the front should be uneventful from post two. (1) LIGHTNING RAIDER N raced OK last time and should be a player at least underneath again. (6) WORLD PEACE has displayed early speed at times. If Zeron guns early I wouldn’t be shocked if this guy hit the exotics.
Race 6
(4) BETTOR’S EDGE flew home last week from an impossible spot and seems to have righted the ship. I’m all in this week. (5) ONTARIO SUCCESS has a start under his belt after missing seven weeks of action; dangerous. (1) JJ FLYNN was short in his first start since December. He may show more now but Gingras chose elsewhere.
Race 7
(4) CALVIN B comes off a fast win at Tioga and tends to pair together big efforts. I’m parlaying all my Bettor’s Edge winnings from race six on this guy. (6) MILLENIUM WHEEL steps up a notch but only faces marginally better foes; main danger. (3) ALEXIE MATTOSIE gets a switch to Gingras. Maybe he can wake him up.
Race 8
(3) JETSKI LOUIE has good early speed when Bill Mann wants to use it and this week seems like a perfect spot. (1) FAST MANS ALLEY drops down and should have every opportunity to score. (5) WILD SHOT HANOVER gets some post relief this week. Maybe he can finally clear the top.
Race 9
(5) CAMTURO BEACH has posted nearly identical three-plus length wins for this claiming tag and should keep his form for new connections. (1) LOVE TAP HANOVER was used to make the front last week and paid the price. Just toss out that line and expect a better effort here. (2) HEY DALI ships in off a win for a barn that has a strong win percentage at the meet. (3) MISTER TRUTH finished second when last seen in this class.
Race 10
(6) BOLDER raced evenly from the back last time; driver change to the aggressive Andy Miller could make things interesting. (8) OK GALAHAD won by 17 lengths last time. I guess that makes him a star in this mostly formless field. (1) THAT’S MY HARLEY has some speed and should be close to the action.
Race 11
(3) LIGHTNING STRIKE just missed in this class last time. Trainer has 20 wins on the meet and the rest of the trainers combined have six. I’ll take my chances that this veteran is going down the road. (4) ROCK THE OFFICIAL had some late pace last time. (6) WALKS OF LIFE finally picked up a win for a barn that was having a rough meet. Can lightning strike twice? (1) POWDER KEG should flash speed and hang around for the exotics.
