Meadowlands: Saturday 1/25 Analysis

Race 1 – Non-winners 2-3 races or $20-$30,000 life - **$25K GTD Pick-5**
In a field with no standouts, (3) GOLD STAR YODER qualified back in good order after six weeks off and moves into a new barn with a stellar 3-for-3 record at the meet. (4) SO MUCH BETTOR has been racing well in this class and will certainly be near the front. (9) ODE TO GRAY has plenty of early speed but has missed a few weeks and will offer low odds. (10) FARMERS ONLY seems fast enough but it is hard to say if Ginsburg will gun him off the gate here.
Race 2 – Preferred
(5) MY LINDY WINNER finished fast behind a classy foe in his second start back from vacation. Five-year-old should be ready for a big effort now and might even find some early speed. (7) PAPPY GO GO impressed me beating a nice field back on 1-3, but where has he been the last few weeks? (2) RUBBER DUCK is more than capable of posting a big mile but I like the top two better.
Race 3 – Non-winners $3,500 in last 5
(2) MAKE IT BIG finds himself in a very soft spot this week and has no excuses for failure. (1) MESSI N figures to blast away from the cones and I wouldn’t be shocked if he pulled off an upset. (6) CONCUR arrives from Ohio where he made a solid $57K in 2019; seems like a fit. (5) LIFEONTHEBEACH A makes his second start for Burke and could perk up.
Race 4 – Non-winners 6-7 races or $80-$90,000 life
(10) JACK'S SHADOW N has missed a few weeks but gets some major class relief here. Post 10 adds to the allure for me as it should help his price. (6) DUDDIE’S LOR has been on some roll lately but faces a better field overall and might not be worth short odds. (3) THE FIRST STEP raced ok in his first start for Burke after more than a month on the sidelines; improves? (4) CAPTAIN MULZAC has some ability but might need a start. (9) STENDAHL HANOVER makes his second start since May and could show more.
Race 5 – Non-winners $7,500 in last 5
(2) ALOTBETTOR N drops down and got Tetrick’s call over a Burke horse. This barn has started slowly in 2020 but this guy is in a great spot. (8) ATTA BOY DAN comes out of the same race as the top pick and beat him by a length that night. (6) DECOY made a move to the front and tired late most recently. He could win but I’m not running to bet. (4) JET AIRWAY has been racing well in this class; using underneath.
Race 6 – Trackmaster Rating 82.5 or less
In a field where I’m not crazy about anyone, I’ll try (3) KING HARVEST, who draws inside this week after two decent tries from off the pace. Classy 10-year-old could be showing speed here. (7) WHATSTROUBLNUROCKY is certainly sharp but just doesn’t want to win. (2) MAYFIELD DUKE rolled down the road last week and certainly figures closely in this race.
Race 7 – Non-winners $10,000 in last 5
(6) LIKE CLOCKWISE takes a significant drop in class this week and really should be tough to beat. (7) BELL I NO has been racing very well in this condition and will fight hard. (1) STATEMENT MADE A is another class-dropper. He could wake up any week.
Race 8 – Non-winners $22,500 in last 5 - **$50K GTD Pick-4**
(5) BILLY BADGER N has been playing the closing game at Dover, which is far from a recipe for success. Moving to the big track could be just what the doctor ordered. (4) MINDTRIP has speed, form and class; must use. (7) MCTHRILLER is capable of popping a big mile. (6) HARAMBE DEO could be dangerous if following second over behind my top pick.
Race 9 – Non-winners $10,000 in last 5
(10) TRUMP THAT steps up off a win but faces a field that seems to lack early sd. Tetrick could take this field a long way if he fires off the gate. (1) TACT TATE N is in a great spot but may not be ready in his first start since November 17; mixed feelings. (5) KEPT UNDER WRAPS A took a shot last time and weakened some. His form is not as bad as it looks with a quick glance.
Race 10 – Non-winners $7,500 in last 5
(8) EVER AGAIN drops in class here but may get lost in the pari-mutuel shuffle. He’s a proven winner over the track and has been kicking home well of late. (1) YOUCANIKNOW is the other class-dropper in the field, but the price will be much shorter on him. (2) BIG STRETCH MARK moves to the inside of the gate and should be close enough to get a nice exotic slot.
Race 11 – Trackmaster Rating 79.5 or less
(3) JK PRIDENJOY raced ok from a tough spot in his first start since early December and might be able to build off that mile from off the pace in a field loaded with early speed on the outside of the gate. (1) RAZOR’S EDGE broke and won last time at The Meadows. Will the switch to the big track help the breaking issues? (4) WESTERN REDHOT is consistent but is probably best used underneath unless the track is really sloppy, which is very possible.
Race 12 – Non-winners $3,500 in last 5
(1) MORE THE BETTER N failed as the chalk last time. He moves inside and drops to the basement condition; another shot. (4) BRING THE THUNDER was just a length behind the top pick last week and obviously merits respect here. (8) SPIRIT OF TRUTH comes over from Freehold and has some early speed; upset chance. (5) GYPSY LEATHER is down in class and will still offer value on the toteboard.
Race 13 - $7,500 Claiming
(2) WALKS OF LIFE failed as one of the favorites in a crazy race last week. He should have every opportunity to rebound in this field. (8) ALWAYS B MAGIC finished ahead of the top pick in a huge effort last time but hasn’t won in a long time. (4) LUCK N ROLL K moves into a new barn and could awaken. (7) DIRTY DEVIL comes down sharp from Monticello.
