Best Bet: ZOOMING (5th) Spot Play: JENERAL PATTON (8th) Race 1 - $10,000 Guaranteed Survivor Pick Ten Pool Race 2 - $25,000 Guaranteed Pick Five Pool Race 4 - $25,000 Guaranteed Pick Four Pool Race 8 - $50,000 Guaranteed Pick Four Pool MEET STATS: 35 - 106 / $201.30 (-$10.70) BEST BETS: 6 - 9 / $19.10 (+$1.10) Race 1 (1) SUNFIRE BLUE CHIP is coming out of a tougher spot and should get an aggressive steer here from Yannick Gingras. (2) MELMERBY BEACH had to pick up some confidence winning by over six lengths while down in company at Yonkers last time; plenty of back class. (4) SPEED AGAIN recently became a millionaire. He could be an interesting play if allowed to make the front and set soft fractions. Race 2 (5) CUZ I’M HAPPY spent a bunch of time on the rim last week and paid the price. There are no killers in this field and this guy should offer good value. (6) SPANISH ART gets a major driver change and will be bet heavily because of it; using. (4) DREAMS ARE TRUE has early speed and decent form but is winless on the year. (2) RECORD MACHINE closed well in the snow last Saturday. Race 3 (3) ROLL AWAY JOE only has one win on the year, but that came at The Meadowlands in this class. His form is good enough to win. (7) E STREET PLAN has been racing reasonably well and we’ve seen these first time Burke horses from the Herrera barn perform nicely. (5) WESTERN JOE has looked good in all his recent appearances here. Race 4 (7) LONE WOLF TERROR put in a sharp effort when here two starts back before making a break on a smaller track rated ‘good’ last time. I expect we’ll get a top performance. (3) IN YOUR EYE gets tested for class in this spot, but you have to like a horse that can take air, especially on a half mile track, and still pace hard through the wire. (8) BIG STRETCH MARK has speed and form; Gingras drives this week. (6) HOME JAMES took last week off when facing a potential stakes-quality foe; shows speed now? Race 5 (9) ZOOMING was a sharp second last week behind Gural Hanover, who would be 1-5 in this spot. He is the only horse in the field not moving up in class and the outside post shouldn’t be a problem since he can fly off the gate. (7) SOUTHWIND COBRA has gone on quite a role since leaving stakes competition; main danger. (1) QUEEN ADJALA has form but is in tough. (8) IRON MINE BUCKY swept the field last week but that will be much harder to do in this spot. Race 6 (4) JEWEL LEHIGH A raced well from an outside post last time and should have a huge chance moving inside. (1) ABBIJADE HANOVER finally got back into the winner’s circle last Saturday in the snow. She’s a factor in here but may be used too hard from post 8. (5) SUDDEN CHANGE N has seen some bad posts and trips of late. I see her as a sneaky price play that will certainly be on my pick 4/5 tickets. Race 7 (7) CHRISTEN ME N should romp in this spot if handled with any aggression. (4) TULLOW N seems to like it at The Meadowlands; class test here. (3) LIMELIGHT BEACH has the early speed to make some noise and I guess if left alone he could steal the race. Race 8 (7) JENERAL PATTON doesn’t show much in terms of form, but is getting a key class drop here while adding Tetrick in the bike. (3) SUPER IMPOSED N is better than he showed last time and should provide the right price. (1) JK WILL POWER is going well right now. If he can stick close and make a quick brush that will increase his chances. (4) STARZNHEAVEN steps up for the third straight week; dangerous. Race 9 (4) IDEAL MATTERS showed his class by marching down the road in consecutive starts versus easier. He can handle this group as well. (3) ROCK ON THE HILL drops in for a tag this week. He is sharper than his last race looks and should race well. (5) JOHNNY Q is down in class and may just perk up. Race 10 (1) YO CHEYENNE ROCKY has been stuck with outside posts at Yonkers since the start of November and now he not only moves inside but adds Gingras; interesting. (2) STRATOCASTER is back down in class and seems to be in good enough form to win. (5) MAJOR WAR has dangerous speed and could take this field a long way. Race 11 (5) TRADING UP has returned from a brief break in raging form and looks ready to take the class jump. (1) ONEISALONELYNUMBER is back at a more realistic level this week and might even offer some value as this driver/trainer combo doesn’t typically get bet heavily. (4) CARDIAC FASHION has raced well since moving into the Burke barn. (3) SUNSHINE WEST has won three of four and must be considered on multi-race tickets. Race 12 (8) CITY HALL qualified back in good order and has always done well at The Meadowlands when down in class. (6) SIR MACHALOT is getting plenty of class relief on paper moving from a $50k claimer, but the lack of a lifetime mark on a big track is concerning. (1) MISTER TRUTH was second in this condition last week but finds a much tougher field. (2) I’M THE REAL MAJOR could be worth a look on the driver change angle.  [DRF HARNESS NEWSLETTER: Sign Up for the FREE DRF Harness Newsletter. Fresh content and insights delivered each Thursday.]
