Derick Giwner|Dec 12, 2013
Meadowlands logo (new)

Race 1 - $25,000 Guaranteed Pick Five Pool

Race 3 - $30,000 Guaranteed Pick Four Pool

Race 7 - $50,000 Guaranteed Pick Four Pool

MEET STATS: 23 - 65 / $155.00 BEST BETS: 3 - 5 / $9.90

Best Bet: EDDIE SWEAT (2nd)

Spot Play: DULL ROAR (9th)

Race 1

(2) LETTHEROCKBEGIN missed seven weeks of action prior to his 11-23 start and showed nice improvement at Philly last time. Five-year-old has shown he can go a big mile at times and this shapes up as a good spot. (3) STORMIN RUSTLER has come back to the races with two solid efforts and looks like the one to beat. (5) I DO HANOVER rallied nicely last time; threat.

Race 2

(7) EDDIE SWEAT was absolutely super last week; staying here. (1) DOVUTO HANOVER proved game last time and should be forwardly placed from the cones. (5) BIG GAME HUNTER moves into the Miller barn and could certainly improve.

Race 3

In a field lacking much form, (1) URGENTLY draws well, has early speed and I’m thinking Gingras will be aggressive. (3) SHAKERATTLENROCK has yet to win in 17 starts this year but seems to fit from a speed standpoint. (7) ITTAKESTWOBABY appears to be dropping in class but has little form to speak of.

Race 4

(8) PIERCE qualified very well and gets a narrow call over a non-descript group. (6) BERKSHIRE BEAR was stuck in traffic and finished up with pace last time. (2) NITRO’S WIGGLE has early speed and lured Corey Callahan off #6.

Race 5

This race comes down to two horses on paper and driver Tim Tetrick had his choice. Even though he did not chose (4) K-LEES SHAKENBAKE, I’m on board. This guy has finished second or better in 14 of 16 starts this year and seems versatile. (6) BURKENTINE HANOVER has plenty of early speed and tons of form. This gelding has only missed the board twice in 15 career starts. (10) AXIOM HANOVER probably has no shot from post 10. Maybe he closes for third.

Race 6

(5) DIAL OR NODIAL actually starts in consecutive weeks and really wasn’t bad last time. He has the speed and class to take this race. (4) GREAT VINTAGE doesn’t appear to have a slot of heart when placed on the rim. He wants to sit close or make one late run. (8) MEIRS HANOVER should be on the move early and make his presence felt.

Race 7

(8) VALENTINO has proven capable of winning at a higher level than he is entered on Saturday. Expect Andy Miller to fire him off the wings of the gate. (7) CASHENDASH HANOVER was used up early last time and had nothing left for the stretch. A smoother trip can improve the end result. (1) EXPLODENT faces tougher after a solid victory. (5) MEGA LIGHTNING is certainly fast enough to beat this field and should not be completely tossed.

Race 8

(5) CAM B ZIPPER flashed good speed at both ends of the mile last time and deserves the narrow call. (1) SALEVSTER STALLION has some speed to protect his inside position. If the weather is bad and the wind is strong, this guy could be a major player just by staying close. (2) WILLY MUCHA moves into a new barn; maybe.

Race 9

(3) DULL ROAR has some ability but hasn’t been able to put it on display versus some much tougher foes. Tonight looks like his night to shine. (1) MINDSET tends to perk up when he finds softer spots like this one. (7) CC HEET SEEKER just missed last time and should offer better value this week.

Race 10

(3) SIR ZIGGYS Z TAM can race well from on or off the pace and seems to be in a good spot. (5) FRESH DREAM finds a field with plenty of outside speed and that could set the race up for him. (6) PEMBROKE DEWEY came up short last time after missing four weeks of action.

Race 11

(6) PANESTHETIC has picked up his game in terms of time in each of his trips to the track since returning from a layoff. One more step forward should get him to the winner’s circle. (4) VERDAD looks to be off form on paper but could improve on the switch to the mile track. (1) SILENT SWING has inside speed but faces tougher.

Race 12

(7) AIRBURST HANOVER made a break last time and now finds himself in a new barn. Don’t be shocked if he wakes up against a pretty lackluster group. (4) WHIRL MONROE has sizzling early speed and could bottom out this field. (1) REMISSIONOFSINS has been stuck in post eight with no shot in each of his last three races; draws well tonight.

Race 13

(7) BLACK HAT raced very well despite a tough trip last time and only needs a smoother trip to win. (3) BOILER BOB THE QB is feeling really good right now; one to beat. (8) WINDSONG GORGEOUS continues to race well but draw the worst of the contenders. (6) CLUBBER LANG comes off a good effort.
