Meadowlands: Saturday 10/27 Analysis

Derick Giwner|Oct 25, 2018
Meadowlands logo (new)

Best Bet: SHOW ME UP (2nd)

Spot Play: PAPPY GO GO (4th)

Race 3 - $25,000 Guaranteed Pick Five Pool

Race 8 - $50,000 Guaranteed Pick Four Pool

MEET STATS: 14 - 43 / $118.90 (+$32.90)

BEST BETS: 0 - 3 / $0.00 (-$6.00)

Race 1

(7) MEDOLAND JATE drops in claiming price for a high percentage barn and should bring a strong effort to the track. (2) IDEAL CANDIDATE wasn’t bad last week and Merton did stick with this guy. (6) ATLAS ALLIANCE N is certainly versatile as he closes out his age 13 season. He’s sharp enough to get a big piece.

Race 2

Driver Mitchell Cushing was listed to drive more than half of this field and chose (7) SHOW ME UP. I don’t blame him. Eleven-year-old has been coming up short versus better and should be very comfortable with this group. (6) DANCING RUSTY moves into a new barn and could certainly show a bit more.

Race 3

(4) WESTERN TORO just missed last week and should take matters into his own hands again with his usual early speed. (8) GLASS PRINCE has loads of back class and faces easier this time; dangerous. (2) MCCITO should come away close and have the opportunity to upset with a clean trip.

Race 4

(1) PAPPY GO GO came up with a monster mile last time and anything close to that will result in another winner’s circle picture. (2) CHROMEO stayed trotting and picked up a win in his second start back from a break. He can build off that effort. (3) WAITING ON A WOMAN has plenty of class and this barn did go 2-for-2 here last week; maybe. (8) NEW JERSEY VIKING is more than capable against this field when he brings his best game.

Race 5

(7) CRACKER PULLET sheds 40% off his claiming price to enter this min-series. His form at Saratoga was good enough to expect a solid performance. (8) CHEYENNE REIDER goes for his third straight win and is a must-use on your multi-race tickets. (4) MACHMEMACKIE should flash early speed and hold for a good share.

Race 6

(2) LIVE ON stopped badly last week in what looks like a toss-out line. Gelding has done well here in the past (11-2-2-2 in 2018) and he just might perk up at a price on the big track. (2) MAJOR WAR is another horse with a history at The Big M with eight wins over the last few years. His lifetime mark was set on this oval earlier this year. (5) JOE’S BID kept up versus good foes in a quick qualifier and might just be ready off the bench. (1) TWINCREEKS JESSE gets post relief but didn’t exactly catch the easiest field. (10) MACH DÉJÀ VU stopped in his first start for this barn, but we’ve seen recently where the second start was the charm.

Race 7

(3) SANTIAGO STYLE came up short last time but I’m not giving up on him just yet. He faces a very similar field and only needs a slightly better trip to win. (6) DURANT followed the top pick and got past him in the lane last time; clear threat. (4) TERROR OF THE NITE is in decent form and could spice up the exotics at a big price.

Race 8

(8) BUSHWACKER clearly needed the start last week after a year on the shelf. Seven-year-old has plenty of class and could be ready to fire now. (7) BRUCE’S MAGIC finished ahead of the top pick last time and he has the early speed to make the front. (6) QUALITY BUD is another horse with a couple of starts under his belt and he could be ready for more.

Race 9

(6) MAJOR AUTHORITY scored versus easier last week and seems capable of stepping up. (2) DASH OF DANGER gets post and class relief; should be a price. (8) JACKSRLUCKYTOO has visited the winner’s circle 15 times here in the last three years.

Race 10

(1) BETTER THAN HAPPY was used early and paid the price last time. In a soft field this 3-year-old filly could turn it around in a hurry. (8) ROSY OUTLOOK continues to drop down the class ladder and should be aggressive off the gate. (10) DELIGHTFULMEMPHISN is the clear horse to beat, but post 10 and a scratched-sick line after a layoff are big concerns.

Race 11

(2) SPEED TO MARKET raced very well here last week and faces a dull field. (10) ART MIAMI is clearly the fastest horse but he hasn’t races since February. (4) PLACE PANDOME switches to the big tracks after closing reasonably well at Philly.

Race 12

(1) SOUTHWIND INDY faces an easier group this week and draws well. In a field with no form, at least this guy should be close to the action. (10) ROCKIN CELEBRATION had more late life with Lasix added; post 10 hurts. (3) BETTER BANGBANG gets post relief. (7) HOPE FOR BADLANDS is a closing threat if they mix it up on the engine.
