Meadowlands: Qualifying Insider and Horses to Watch - 2/7/13

Derick Giwner|Feb 07, 2013
Meadowlands Grandstand update_2-7-13
Derick Giwner A good view of the tiered seating being constructed as part of the New Meadowlands grandstand.

It was a brisk 28 degrees for Thursday morning qualifying action at the Meadowlands. The judges were allowing a one second time allowance and winds were mostly calm.

COCO LINDY should be ready for action after a solid wire-to-wire win in 1:55 1/5. The 6-year-old was rated kindly by driver Tim Tetrick before sprinting home in :27 1/5.

LORENZO DREAM moved uncovered past the half and held very well in the stretch after applying pressure to Coco Lindy.

MS CAILA J FRA was saved along the pylons as Real Comfort set crazy early fractions. In the stretch she was angled off the cones and rallied home very willingly without any encouragement.

FEELING YOU waited along the pylons, angled in the stretch and finished very fast while completely on her own.

Horses to watch

Thursday, January 31

WESTERN CREDIT (C-2) – Was wide early and never saw the pylons while parked the mile with cover. He held okay and could be moving in the right direction.

THANKS FOR STOPPIN (C-1) – Finished with good late pace after following gapping cover.

Friday, February 1

AXIOM HANOVER (NW2) – Made an early break but recovered well enough. In the stretch he angled off the cones and this first-time starter seemed to figure out why he was on the track. He stormed home.

B L CLASS ACT (B-2/B-1) – Hugged the cones and was hopelessly locked in through the stretch with no chance to stretch his legs. Hopefully he will get in a straight B-2 next week.

A BETTOR WORLD (NW2) – Was trapped in last before angled out at three quarters. He swung wide into the stretch and finished with plenty left while moving much faster than the leaders late.

QUICK DEAL (A-2) – Brushed and crushed in a big 1:53 mile.

Saturday, February 2

OIL MAGNET (20000/25000CLM) – Just cruised along on the lead easily.
