Meadowlands: Overnight purses to see big increase

The Meadowlands is announcing a significant purse increase starting with the next condition sheet (July 30 & 31).

As a result of the recent supplemental appropriation that restored the State of New Jersey's annual grant to horse racing to its legislated $20 million annual level, $1.5 million directed to overnight purses will hit the account in the near future.

That amount, parceled out over the remaining 31 live racing dates, will elevate overnight purses by an average of $50,000 per 13 race card and will push Meadowlands daily overnight purses to over $200,000 per card on average through the end of the 2021 season.
