Meadowlands: NJ Breeders Maturity champions crowned
Elimination winners Ab'sattitudexpress and Back Of The Neck were victorious in the pair of non-wagering New Jersey Breeders Maturity finals for 4-year-old trotters that occurred on Saturday evening at the Meadowlands.
Ab'sattitudexpress (Tim Tetrick) faced off with Spoiled Princess (Dexter Dunn) in a match race in the $30,000 contest for the mares. Spoiled Princess went to the lead from post one and put up fractions of 29, 57 2/5, and 1:26, but she couldn't hold on in the lane as Ab'sattitudexpress got up to win by three-parts of a length in 1:53 3/5.
Lucas Wallin trains Ab'sattitudexpress, a daughter of Trixton, for owner/breeder Stop The Jade Farm LLC. This was her ninth career win, and she has now pocketed $295,641.
In the $40,000 tilt for horses and geldings, Back Of The Neck (Ake Svanstedt) carved out panels of 28 1/5, 56 4/5, and 1:26 4/5, then drew off in a final quarter of 27 seconds, defeating Play Trix On Me (Scott Zeron) by four lengths and stopping the timer in 1:53 4/5. Kasha V (Dunn) checked in third.
A 4-year-old son of Ready Cash, Back Of The Neck is trained by Svanstedt and is owned by breeder Order By Stable in partnership with Howard Taylor, Judith Taylor, and Ake Svanstedt Inc. Back Of The Neck has compiled a record of 8-4-4 from 22 appearances, and he pushed his bankroll to $517,357.
