Meadowlands: New Jersey Sire Stakes season gets underway

The New Jersey Sire Stakes season for 3-year-olds of both sexes and gaits kicked off on Friday evening at the Meadowlands with one $15,000 division for each group.
The events for fillies were raced on the pari-mutuel program, and in the pace it would be Hypnotic Tale (David Miller) winning in 1:53 1/5. She went to the lead, yielded to Hurrikane Empress (Yannick Gingras), then came back on in the lane to win by half a length. Cruzinforavictory (Frank Milby) finished in third.
Hypnotic Tale is a daughter of Hypnotic Blue Chip who is trained by Linda Toscano for owner/breeder Ronald Mario. This was Hypnotic Tale's third career victory, and she has now earned $57,618. She was the 3-5 favorite and paid $3.40 to win.
Four trotting fillies lined up for their showdown, and Samis Rolin Stone prevailed in 1:56 4/5 for driver Brett Miller. Samis Rolin Stone brushed to the top at the 59 2/5 half-mile marker, and she couldn't be caught in the back-half, winning by a length over pocket-sitter Diamondstone US (David Miller). Take A Wish (Steve Smith) collected third.
The victorious Wishing Stone filly is trained by Deshawn Minor for owner/breeder Daniel Lengacher. She broke her maiden in her 11th career start, and she pushed her bankroll to $30,133. Samis Rolin Stone was sent off at 1-5 and returned $2.60 to win.
The two New Jersey Sire Stakes contests for the boys were staged as non-wagering events, and Melanie's Fran (David Miller) began the action by winning the pace in a match race over Hypnotico (Austin Siegelman) by 9 3/4 lengths in 1:57 3/5.
Melanie's Fran, a gelding by Hypnotic Blue Chip, is trained by Kevin McDermott for owner 80 Slot Right Stable. Melanie's Fran is now a five-time winner in his life, and he has pocketed $128,000.
In the colt trot Shoshie Deo (George Brennan) inherited the lead when U Need Stones (Gingras) jumped it off past the opening quarter and went on to score in 1:56 2/5. U Need Stones rallied back for runner-up honors, and Brutal Storm (Eric Abbatiello) checked in third.
A Wishing Stone colt, Shoshie Deo is trained by Deshawn Minor for owner Annemette Minor. Shoshie Deo has a record of 5-5-0 from 13 starts, and he has put away $99,830.
