Meadowlands: Millies Possesion swiftest in Reynolds races for sophomore trotting fillies

Millies Possesion never saw the rail from post nine but overcame the wide journey to take her division of the Reynolds for 3-year-old filly trotters tonight at the Meadowlands in 1:51 1/5, the quickest of three splits. Millies Possesion's trainer Jim Campbell also won another flight with Cloud Nine Fashion, and trainer Joe Holloway, who will enter the Hall of Fame tomorrow along with one of her co-owners, Ted Gewertz, won the remaining test with Starita.
Making her mile track debut in the final $32,166 section, Millies Possesion (Dexter Dunn) was left first-over when Golden Tricks (Ake Svanstedt) cleared to the front past the 56 second half. Millies Possesion kept plugging away, though, advancing into second at the 1:23 2/5 three-quarters and then wearing down Golden Tricks in the lane on her way to the win by three-parts of a length in 1:51 1/5. Asiago (Yannick Gingras) was third.
A daughter of Possess The Will, Millies Possession is a homebred for Fashion Farms LLC. Unraced as a 2-year-old, she has won all six of her sophomore efforts to go with earnings of $107,267. She paid $7.40 to win as a 5-2 offering.
With several drivers delayed getting back to the Meadowlands from The Meadows early on the card, Trond Smedshammer picked up a rare catch drive behind Cloud Nine Fashion in the $32,166 Reynolds opener, and he made the best of the situation, working out a third-over trip for her and guiding her by leading Princess Deo (Brian Sears) in the stretch to win by a length and a half in 1:54 1/5. Gobi Princess (Marcus Johansson) rallied from tenth to third in the last quarter.
Campbell said that Cloud Nine Fashion will be back for next week's Del Miller Memorial at the Meadowlands, and added of Smedshammer filling in, "He did a good job."
Fashion Farms LLC. also owns Cloud Nine Fashion, a filly by Muscle Hill. She made her seventh appearance in the winner's circle, and she has now pocketed $187,058. She returned $14.40 to win as a 6-1 shot.
Starita (Sears) took the middle $32,667 Reynolds rumble. She raced in the pocket and three-hole through opening-half panels of 28 4/5 and 57 4/5, came first-over going to the 1:25 4/5 three-quarters, and out-kicked leader Sonnet Grace (Gingras) in the lane to prevail by two lengths in 1:53 3/5. Sonnet Grace had to settle for second, with Personal Paradise (Svanstedt) up for third.
A Trixton filly, Starita is trained by Holloway for Gewertz and partner Val D'Or Farms. She is now a six-time winner, and she has put away $205,781. She paid $11.80 to win after being dispatched at 9-2.
Older trotters also raced on the card in a lone $40,000 dash in the fourth round of the Mr Muscleman Series, and the win would go to Rich And Miserable (Tyler Buter) in 1:51 over Pinkman (Dunn) and Cruzado Dela Noche. Rich And Miserable, a 4-year-old Explosive Matter gelding, has been red-hot this year for trainer Todd Buter and owners Buter Farm Inc., Lynette Buter, William Fuhs, and Carol Fuhs, with a record of 8-2-1 from 11 tries.
