Meadowlands: It's Horrible Evening

Horrible Evening, coming out of back-to-back wins in open company at Arlington Park, holds an edge in class and Beyer Speed Figures over seven rivals in the $50,000 Escaped Stakes for New Jersey-breds at a mile and 70 yards.

Horrible Evening hasn't raced at The Meadowlands since December 2000, but he likes the track, as evidenced by a win, place, and show in his three local starts.

Brucker's Brother has four wins and three seconds in 11 starts this year, a bullet three-furlong work last Saturday, and a 97 Beyer on Aug. 14 that might be good enough to win this. Trouble is, his best races are on the front end and so are those of Horrible Evening, who has the quicker early foot.

If as predicted it rains, Horrible Evening's edge becomes bigger, and his main foe would become Beknown to Me, who loves it wet.
