Meadowlands: Horses to watch for March 1-3, 2012

Derick Giwner|Mar 06, 2012

Thursday, March 1

CAMERON CHIP (HORSE & GROOM) – Was third over behind pedestrian fractions and did his best to rally into a fast final quarter.

MMS LUCKY BOY (HORSE & GROOM) – Faced early stretch traffic and finished up willingly between horses when clear.

Friday, March 2

NOT AFRAID (SINGER MEMORIAL) – Simply dominated and won as he pleased.

ANNDROVETTE (OVERBID) – Looked like a mare that needed a start but still showed her class and got into the win photo. She’ll only get better.

WHATS NEW PUSSYCAT (NW10000) – Didn’t appear to enjoy the back of the pack as she was a bit lackadaisical until the stretch when she picked it up nicely from a tough spot.

CHAPLIN HALL (NW10000) – Comes off a toss-out effort where he was stuck at the back and ran into traffic nearly the entire stretch.

RATHBONE N (15000CLM) – Was stuck behind a wall of horses and finished up well when he finally got clear.

Saturday, March 3

GREAT VINTAGE (NW10000) – Was too far back to menace but certainly showed he is ready to step up by closing willingly in the lane

HANKS KID (30000CLM) – Was behind a wall of horses at the back and had no chance of cashing. At first glance it looked like he stopped badly but you could certainly make the case that Campbell saw no hope of getting a check and shut him down.

FOOLS GOLD (FOUR LEAF CLOVER) – Was second over behind a slow pace perfectly executed by the leader and his entry mate who was first over. He made a nice move on the final turn but had no chance of getting home first while trying to close into a very fast final quarter.

(Horses which previously appeared but have yet to race)

Thursday, February 23

KEYSTONE RAPTOR (NW4000) – Won as he pleased on the engine.

APOLLO BLUE CHIP (QUA – RACE 1) – Angled off the cones in the stretch and finished with very good energy.

ONE MORE LAUGH (QUA – RACE 12) – Finished up loaded with pace and no chance.
