Meadowlands: Highalator remains razor-sharp with Golden Receiver Series score

Highalator repeated in the Golden Receiver Series for open pacers and racked up his third win in-a-row overall thanks to a 1:48 3/5 performance on Saturday night at the Meadowlands.
Driven by Richard Still, Highalator pushed around Sweet Rock (Dexter Dunn) for the lead past the 26 4/5 opening quarter in the $35,000 event, then raced through a half in 55 2/5 and a three-quarters in 1:23 1/5. Still asked Highalator one time coming off the last turn, and the response was the one he was looking for, as Highalator kicked home in 25 2/5 to keep Sweet Rock at bay by a length and a quarter. Classy Dragon (Brian Sears) was up for third.
According to the chart of the race, every horse who competed in the event paced their last quarter in 26 seconds or less, with five of the nine home in 25 flat.
Jenny Bier trains and shares ownership of Highalator, a 5-year-old Somebeachsomewhere stallion, with partners Joann Dombeck and Midsize Construction Inc. This was Highalator's 27th career win, and he has now earned $394,028. The 3-5 favorite, he paid $3.20 to win.
The Golden Receiver Series continues on June 14 with the third preliminary leg and then wraps up with a $60,000 final on July 27.
