Race 1
(1) SEVEN STARS clearly had more in the tank last week in his seasonal debut. He catches a weak field here and notice he is Hambo eligible. If the plan is to make that dance a good effort would go a long way. (5) DEJAROVER has been a bit better since entering the Semdshammer barn. This is a pretty good spot, especially if the top one reverts to his former breaking ways. (2) ETERNAL PATROL is better than his 0 for 12 record would have you believe.
Race 2
(5) FLANAGAN MEMORY looks to be on his game as his ships down from Canada for a possible stakes assignment next week; love this guy’s versatility. (6) TUONOBLU REX hasn’t done too much wrong since coming to the U.S. and merits inclusion on your tickets, but he’ll probably be the favorite and is far from a lock. (3) DAYSON gets away from Marion Marauder. The ability is there is he shows up.
Race 3
(1) SWING IT CATHY raced reasonably well in her first start of the year and should offer some value with Takter driving. (7) SEVEN KARATS looked good in her lone qualifier and now we get to see how good she really is. (3) MEGADOLCE hasn’t been bad in limited action. This field could turn out to be soft.
Race 4
(6) MCACE OF ARTS came up with another nice effort last time and catches perhaps an even weaker NW11500 field this week. Best part for her is a win wouldn’t mean a class jump the following week. (7) BEYONCES ROCKN has some early speed in the tank. She come soft a scratched-sick line but the fact that she dropped right back in means it was probably minor. (8) SPRINGFORTH is clearly in decent form now and David Miller is back in the bike. (4) JAYE’S A LADY has some talent but this field of older mares might be too much for her.
Race 5
For a $35,864 mandatory payout Jackpot race, it really isn’t as impossible on paper as some of the others we’ve seen in recent years. (8) FALCOR BLUESTONE raced evenly at the back with no shot as the odds-on chalk in his first start for this barn. A small step forward and more aggressive handling can produce a win. (6) KING’S CAVALIER is by far the sharpest horse in the race and a must use on every ticket. (9) NONO LINDY finally got some class relief and broke last time at Yonkers. He takes another step down the condition ladder tonight and note he raced well with Miller two starts back at Philly. (3) BOOTSWITHTHEFUR took a shot before tiring last week, which is a good sign. Driver change to Zeron can only help. (4) CAPTAIN PRIMEAU is still chugging along at age 13. He should be a player in the underneath Jackpot spaces. (7) HMS FIRECRACKER has done ok when in decent spots at Saratoga.
Race 6
(1) YOU KNOW YOU DO got caught last time at The Meadows but let’s not be too hard on him after setting a fast pace. A bit of rating tonight should make all the difference. (3) HILL STREET is perfect in two starts but Gingras switches to #1. (2) CRYSTAL FASHION has yet to finish off the board in his four-start career.
Race 7
(4) CALL ME QUEEN BE comes off an improved effort and she is much more likely to push forward off the gate them some others in here. This is an ideal shot for her to upset. (2) FROST DAMAGE BLUES is a talented mare that only needs a smooth trip to score. (8) NIKE FRANCO N is the best mare in this race right now, but I see less than a 5% chance that she’ll be aggressive early, which means you have to hope the race plays into her hands from a pace perspective. (3) PURE COUNTRY has burned enough of my money but perhaps MacDonald can wake her up.
Race 8
(7) MET’S HALL comes off an impressive win at Philly and looks to be a bit faster than these right now. (2) STORMING MIST kept his act together with hobbles added and now picks up a Hall of Fame driver. (4) MAXUS set a quick clip at Philly most recently and paid the price. He is very capable of winning.
Race 9
(8) S M S PRINCESS couldn’t stay on the track but displayed plenty of early speed and staying power in her career debut at Pocono. Let’s expect that learning experience to help her out and perhaps an equipment change will be in the offing as well. (4) PHAETOSIVE did nice work in her lone pari-mutuel race and could be any kind at this point. (6) HEY LIVVY got Brian Sears to go to The Meadows and Pocono, so there has to be some talent here.
Race 10
I love what I’ve seen so far from (1) SUPERGIRL RILEY and tonight presents a great opportunity to get her at a price with (2) MANCHEGO almost certain to be odds-on. At the end of the day, both are very nice fillies with big potential. (3) VIVACIOUS ALLIE hasn’t done much wrong thus far and certainly has a chance.
Race 11
(9) GLENFERRIE DREAMER was a horse I liked two classes higher last week, so how can I not pick him tonight? Plus he gets Brian Sears in the bike. (4) FLYING ISA N scored at a nice price for us last week. I don’t think he’ll have any problem if this race goes faster. (7) GOLD MEDAL SWAN has done well at this level and should be firing off the gate. (3) P L ICABOD improved in his second start since December.
