Best Bet: REAL DJ HANOVER (5th) Spot Play: KISSIN IN THE SAND (8th) Race 1 - $25,000 Guaranteed Pick Five Pool Race 3 - $25,000 Guaranteed Pick Four Pool Race 7 - $50,000 Guaranteed Pick Four Pool MEET STATS: 92 - 217 / $453.10 (+$19.10) BEST BETS: 13 - 18 / $42.20 (+$6.20) Race 1 (6) DIAMONDSTONE US chased home (2) PRINCESS MARXXX last Friday for second money in a decent effort. I have a feeling whichever horse makes the front will win and the former should offer better value than the latter. (4) BE BOP SALLY was 1-5 and looked absolutely awful last time out. I simply can’t forgive that PP line. Race 2 (6) SPEED TO MARKET was a solid second in his debut behind what could turn out to be a special horse in Nutcracker Sweet. (2) HEAVENLY SOUND was a bit further back in the same mile as the top choice last time; improvement is possible. (4) KEY ADVISOR was all out to win from the pocket in his last of three qualifiers. Can he step forward off that mile? Race 3 (3) CLOSING STATEMENT left well and broke clearing in his career debut at Pocono, but rallied nicely to catch the field, which was a plus. Against a seemingly soft group, I’ll take a chance here expecting much better than the 1-5 odds offered last time. (7) BORN TO BE BAD was a sharp winner two back at Scioto and didn’t do anything wrong last time; one to beat. (1) PAPRIKE BLUE CHIP can save ground from the inside post and have a chance to make some noise late. Race 4 (4) VIC’S WINNER moved into a new barn and added hobbles prior to winning his qualifier at Philly by 18-plus lengths. Trainer Ryder now calls on David Miller to drive. I’ll take a shot here if the price is right and he looks good on the track. (1) COUSIN RICKARD edged clear under some urging in his most recent morning session. Switch to Gingras and pari-mutuel action should produce a faster performance. (3) SEVEN IRON & (7) FUNKNPANCAKES raced well enough in NYSS action at Tioga against each other; capable. Race 5 (8) REAL DJ HANOVER drops down the class ladder and has no excuses in this spot. (10) GENIUS AT WORK improved with the class break and addition of Lasix; clear shot if the top one falters. (3) FLYING ISA N is the fastest horse in the race if he shows up. Chasing Hannelore Hanover in a qualifier had to get him tight, but is he ready after missing five months of racing? (2) WHATNBLAZES was ok last time and does add Gingras to the team. Race 6 (2) ALL ON TOP HANOVER sprinted home in 25 3/5 behind Rainbow Room when last seen here and finished well again at Vernon in her second start. Betterthancheddar filly gets the slight call over (8) DANCE BLUE, who gets Gingras back in the bike after a miscue at Vernon. All of her prior efforts here were decent. (1) NEWSDAY couldn’t get anything done out of town but now returns here with David Miller choosing her over three other options; interesting. Race 7 (4) NEWBORN SASSY ships in sharp from Harrington and finds a field loaded with early speed to set up her late rally. (2) DANDY’S BEAUTY put in a big effort last time while fourth and seems highly likely to get ignored in the wagering. (7) SKIPPIN BY ships in for trainer Ron Burke and often his horses pick up their games moving to the big track. Race 8 (7) KISSIN IN THE SAND was cruising along in the pocket at Pocono last time and made a break out of nowhere. Her prior baby race efforts here were fine and notice that Gingras choose this gal over a Burke and Takter trainee. (2) STEP BEYOND kept up well in a pretty nice mile at Vernon. In a race without a clear standout, her early speed should play. (8) ACT LIKE A DIVA is perfect after winning her career debut at Vernon; What’s not to like about that? Race 9 (7) SOUTHWIND JENSON responded nicely to the addition of Lasix before predictably coming up way short last week versus stakes-level 3-year-olds at Pocono. He plummets back down the class ladder and can have a huge say in here. (3) STAKEOUT was sent off at big odds and came up with a monster effort despite taking plenty of air after shipping up from Ocean Downs. (9) ART MIAMI was a winner at first asking for Toscano and only the bad post stands in his way of a repeat. Race 10 (5) WAR CRY HALL was in a tough spot starting from post 10 last week. Driver change to Callahan and the improved post could help him score the upset. (1) HYWAY MARCUS has won his last two starts at this level, though I kind of wish he didn’t draw post 1 because it can be tricky sometimes. (8) CELEBRITY STIMULUS gets a monster driver change to Tetrick and has plenty of early speed. (10) ANOTHER BREATH raced well upon arrival; needs some Miller magic from post 10.
