I’m going to lean to the former on the expectations of a better price since the latter is from the team of Gingras and Takter. Tiffany’s Flash is the seventh foal from Up Front Laura but only the second from sire Cantab Hall. The last time they hooked up the result was Uva Hanover, a $454K career earner with a 1:52 2/5 lifetime mark. Manchego is the third foal from Secret Magic but the first by super-sire Muscle Hill. She is a half-sister to In Secret ($215K, 1:54 1/5). (5) VIVACIOUS ALLIE is the third foal from Kd Girl and a Donato Hanover half-sister to Double Exposure ($317K, 1:53 2/5). She dug in to win her recent qualifier and adds Campbell here. Race 2 In one of the more difficult races to decipher, let’s try (2) BE BOP SALLY from the first crop of Wishing Stone. Filly qualified with some late trot and is at least a half-sister to a couple who have made some money on the track. (6) DIAMONDSTONE US, like the top choice, is also from the Noel Daley barn and came home with a hint of late trot in the morning. She is the third foal from Don’t Think Twice and the first to make the races. (1) PRINCESS MARXXX raced evenly in her Pocono qualifier. She is the second foal from this mare with the first failing to produce. Race 3 (7) HYWAY MARCUS comes off a sharp score and while he drew worst, the short field should give him ever chance to win. (5) PINE TAB is clearly going to be the favorite, but the 1 for 50 win rate over the last two years remains a major concern for me. (2) WAR CRY HALL didn’t improve with the driver change. He did race well for Hechkoff two starts back. Race 4 I’m going to lean ever so slightly to (5) PRESTO BLUE CHIP over (7) HURRIKANE SHORTY on the win end here, though if there was a huge odds disparity I would certainly take that into account. The former is a full brother to Missile J ($498K, 1:49 1/5) and all four of Cantor’s Daughter’s previous foals to race have earned over $121K with three of them holding a 1:49 3/5 mark or faster. Hurrikane Shorty is the sixth foal from Speed Date, her best being Preparty ($222K, 1:50 3/5). (1) SOLITARY is the sixth foal from Lonesome Day but the first by sire American Ideal. I’m intrigued by the fact that three of her previous five foals have earned at least $226K and have a mark of 1:51 or less. Her Gaitway qualifier was good enough to think she can improve off that mile; price play possibility. (2) DANCE BLUE has done enough in the morning to warrant consideration. This is the second foal from Tessa Hanover, with her first owning a 1:51 1/5 mile. Race 5 I was a bit surprised to see David Miller choose #10 over (5) SEVALLY, but that doesn’t make me want to jump ship. Chapter Seven-sired filly is sharp and should be able to fire to the front in this spot. (7) MUSCLE HIGH was able to rate and hold on last week; major threat. (1) ETERNAL PATROL kept up in a quick mile last time. That was a step in the right direction. (2) BRAND NEW KEY steps up off an easy win and may have gained some confidence. Race 6 I’m not crazy about post 10, but I’ve been waiting quite a while for Smedshammer to hand the lines over to a guy like David Miller on (10) FAD FINANCE. This mare is fast enough, we just need some Miller magic to get a good trip. (6) MUSCLE DIAMOND will be the final drive of John Campbell’s career at The Meadowlands. The horse is certainly getting plenty of class relief and part of me wants him to go out a winner. (9) CAN DO has the gate speed to make the front but catches a tougher field than last week as a whole. (7) UVA HANOVER would be a factor if on the top of his game; layoff a concern. Race 7 (6) DREAM BABY DREAM has been facing perhaps the best 3-year-old trotters on the planet in Ariana G and Walner recently. This field is far from easy, but given a clean trip I can see her pulling off an upset. (1A) GLITZEY GAL was looking great until the Sire Stakes Final. Since then she has taken four weeks off. Usually that is a bad thing but maybe in this case there was a minor issue they corrected. (2) FINE TUNED LADY and (3) EZ PASSER are both sharp and capable. (8) THAT’S ALL MONI has ability but is stuck with post nine. Race 8 (4) NUTCRACKER SWEET comes off a sharp qualifying win and is loaded with pedigree. Mom Sweet Future produced Sweet Lou ($3.4 million, 1:47) and Bettor Sweet ($2.7 million, 1:47 2/5). The latter is a full sibling to this guy and only the second Bettor’s Delight foal from Sweet Future. (2) ALL NIGHT PARTY displayed some raw speed in the morning, which is usually a good sign. Mom’s two previous foals have lifetime marks of 1:50 1/5 and 1:48 3/5, so there is precedent for him to be fast. (9) DAAMERICANSKY had some late life in his qualifier at Gaitway, but I’m guessing this first foal from Sky Hall will need a start from the outside post. (1) TIXNSTONES is the first foal from a mare that made over $1.1 million and has a career mark of 1:50 3/5. Race 9 (7) ROCK ME BABY is as fast as any mare in this race and has some versatility to her game to help her overcome the outside draw. (8) PANPAL is arguably the best horse in the race but seemingly will have to pass them all to win. That said, she is capable of the feat. (9) INITTOWINAFORTUNE is fast enough off the wings of the gate to make the front despite post 10. Race 10 (10) LAUDERDALE gets some class relief this week and while he doesn’t appear to be sharp, he is capable of popping up with a big speed mile. (1) MONTALBANO BI moves to an inside post this week and should make his presence felt. (9) UNCLE HANOVER picks up a catch-driver and could improve. (3) MARTY DE VIE gutted out a win versus lesser. If he stays trotting another good showing is likely. [DRF HARNESS NEWSLETTER: Sign Up for the FREE DRF Harness Newsletter. Fresh content and insights delivered each Thursday.]
