Race 1
(3) MR JULIAN has marched down the road in consecutive starts and doesn’t exactly face a tougher group this week. The odds should shrink down to the 2-1 range but there is no reason to jump ship. (5) SEA VENTURE faces mostly $7,500 claimers and has done well at that level. (6) HONEYS DRAGON rallied nicely for the win last week and could get another good pace to close into if the outside horses get frisky early.
Race 2
(6) MYAMMIE DRAMA swept the field as the odds-on favorite last Friday and there seems to be ample speed in here to set her up once again. (1) TEXICAN stole the race with Smedshammer in the bike a week ago and now he calls on David Miller; clear threat. (3) MUSCLE HIGH tried his best but couldn’t close into a slow pace versus #1 last time. He has a clear shot but could be overbet. (4) SHIVERED comes off a nice win.
Race 3
(2) RAINBOW ROOM is a full sister to $1.3 million earner Somwherovrarainbow and has looked the part in her qualifiers. It appears she could be tough to beat in her pari-mutuel debut. (3) DARK FORCE is the fifth foal from Skinny Dip and a full sister to solid performer Not Before Eight ($218k, 1:49 3/5). Her most recent qualifier seems like a step in the right direction. (1) KJ’S BEKAH chased Rainbow Room home last time. She is the first foal from this mare. (5) ALL ON TOP HANOVER has done good work in the morning but hails from a mare that has only thrown one decent horse from seven previous foals.
Race 4
(6) ACHILLE DUHARAS blew up as the 4-5 favorite last week but Gingras sees fit to jump off two others to stick with this guy. The talent is there is he behaves. (1) YES MICKEY shows some decent lines versus NJSS foes. He should be very competitive in here. (8) SWEETCHAP wasn’t overly impressive but won last time. Miller joining the team could result in dropping some time.
Race 5
(1) TRIUMPHANT’S CHIP seems to be moving in the right direction based on last week’s performance. I’m going to take a shot with him here as the price should be right. (6) CAN DO has plenty of class and early speed in his arsenal. Yannick has won with him in the past and I’m using him in the top spot on most of my tickets versus a less experienced group. (5) VICTOR GIO IT gets a major test in here. Personally, I just don’t trust him, especially as the potential favorite. (9) TROLLEY steps away from stakes company and is a nice trotter that is more than capable of winning.
Race 6
(5) CUFFLINK HANOVER has been holding his own versus some top quality trotters in the Graduate series and just may get an aggressive steer in this spot from Callahan. (2) MARKET SHARE has looked super in recent weeks and is hard to toss. (1) STITCH IN TIME has speed and form from the inside in a short field.
Race 7
(3) WAR CRY HALL rallied well in his second start for this barn. Driver change to David Miller only helps the cause. (5) SHEER FLEX flashed early speed in a good effort when last seen in this class. (1) GOLD MEDAL SWAN raced well last time versus a chalky winner. (4) LANDONFITZ has been doing good work since leaving the amateur ranks. I’ll be using him on at least one pick four ticket.
Race 8
(6) BREADCRUMB INCOME arrived here last week and couldn’t quite handle some salty older mares. This looks like a better spot where she can make the lead and have every chance. (8) ANGEL’S PRIDE put up a huge win at Vernon. If she paces another 1:51 mile, she’ll likely be getting her picture taken. (3) LETS HAVEA PARTY has speed and form; should get a nice piece. (10) COLORFUL JASMINE looked great in the NJSS prelims before falling way short in the Final. Having missed three weeks of action and starting from post 10, I’ll be playing against in the top spot.
Race 9
(9) HYWAY MARCUS catches a very soft NW5000 group. I’ll take a stab with him in a race that could produce a crazy result. (7) STEALTH HANOVER should be headed to the top and could steal the race. (10) TOSS CARTWRIGHT gets a huge driver change to Yannick and deserves instant respect.
Race 10
(9) MODERN MERCURY is stuck with an outside post but really does catch an easy field. Hopefully new driver Marohn can get her in striking position. (2) TACS DELIGHT should be on or near the lead and might even be the favorite in this spot. (1) MARTY DE VIE should be a factor if he minds his manners. (5) WHATNBLAZES never got involved from an outside post in his first start for this barn. Don’t be shocked if he finds more now.
