Race 1
(1) EJ’S LAST DANCE finds a good spot where she can sit patiently and attack the early late in the mile. (8) WINWOOD SCOUT is fast off the gate but I don’t feel confident with him on the win end. (4) WAR CRY HALL should be competitive in this field. That said, his driver is 0 for 20 on the meet.
Race 2
(5) STARITA coasted to an easy score in her second qualifier and you have to respect the fact that she overcame adversity in her first start to be second. The price should be right to take a shot with her. (2) WHISPERING OAKS could be the first daughter of Father Patrick to start in a pari-mutuel race. The qualifiers look spectacular for this first foal from Vintage Oaks. (3) MA WAS RIGHT got the job done in her qualifier and who knows at this point how much ability she has. Second foal from It’s Alright Ma, who sent out a winner of $87K with a 1:54 2/5 mark so far.
Race 3
(3) SOUTHWIND CHROME moves out of stakes races for this overnight event. Colt by Chapter Seven should get the job done. (6) VELVATTER can leave well off the gate and get into prime position. (8) BROADWAY BRUISER put in two credible races in this class. (5) QUANTUM KEMP seems likely to be overbet in a spot where I don’t love him.
Race 4
(6) ZLATAN dropped to this level and raced much better. He’s a good fit in this race. (1) CELEBRITY EVENTSY raced much better last time out and does have a ton of back class. (2) HOT SUMMER KNIGHT is more than capable of winning but lacks recent form.
Race 5
(3) PRINCESS HOLLY N went an interesting trip and tired late last week. This spot is slightly tougher but she should be a major factor. (1) SUN SHINES BRIGHT made a nice move and had to settle for second. She is eligible to improve in her second start of her career. (6) BUTCHIE BEACH went a big mile in his career debut here; stakes foes proved too tough.
Race 6
(2) MISSLAROSE comes with the risk of a break and certainly lacks the talent of some on the outside of the gate, but she should be in great position if she minds her manners. (8) OPULENT YANKEE has big speed and a good record here. (9) PINKMAN picked up his game last week. Can he overcome the bad post? (4) LINDY THE GREAT has come up a bit flat in stakes action. He could show more in his third start back.
Race 7
(4) KAITLYN N showed she belongs with a big mile here last Friday. I’ll ride her another week. (3) STORMTRACKER paced a winning mile in the same time as the top choice last out; clear contender. (8) WINDSUN GLORY gets plenty of class relief and is the clear one to beat on paper.
Race 8
(8) DREAM BABY DREAM put in a sharp mile in her first start since October. New barn seems to have her primed for a big season. (2) SEVIYORUM was raced very conservatively in her 2018 debut and now tackles boys and some older foes. (1) ZEPHYR KRONOS gets tested in a big way as this is the toughest field he has ever faced.
Race 9
(7) BEYONCES ROCKIN is down in class and with a catch-driver; should romp. (6) GIVEMEYOURHEART could get aggressive in this spot but hasn’t been very sharp. (8) FINA PATINA is another class dropper but not in the league of the top pick. (9) INTOVIEW has some ability and comes off a good mile.
