Meadowlands logo (new)

Race 1 - $30,000 Guaranteed Pick Five Pool

Race 3 - $25,000 Guaranteed Pick Four Pool

Race 7 - $50,000 Guaranteed Pick Four Pool

CHAMPIONSHIP MEET STATS: 43 - 117 / $237.20 (+$3.20) BEST BETS: 5 - 10/ $12.10 (-7.90)

Best Bet: B YOYO (7th)

Spot Play: FASHION ROCKER (4th)

Race 1

(8) WINDSUN GALLIANO closed willingly from last into a pretty quick pace for the amateur ranks last time. I’m not sure he can sweep the field but I’m hoping Kleinhans will take a shot and send him early. (4) NO RECESS moved early and could not sustain through the wire. He should be on or near the lead in this spot. (6) FEISTY LOVE won back-to-back amateur races here before failing at Vernon; clear player. (9) REAL DJ HANOVER swept the field last week to earn Sarah Svanstedt her first win. Horse and driver clearly have a big shot of repeating, but the short price is a turn-off.

Race 2

(1) WORLD CUP was clearly off his game at Pocono. If he reverts to prior form he should be competitive. (3) DANISH DURANGO is very sharp now and should be controlling the action or sitting second. (5) CROSBYS CLAM BAKE was Bongiorno’s choice over my top pick. This guy has proven himself here against better in the past.

Race 3

(5) BALLINEEN hasn’t exactly been on her game, but tonight she gets a new set of hands at the controls and that can wake her up. (4) ARABELLA J raced well last time with a catch-driver and seems to be in a good spot to control the pace. (3) JETOMATT has been finishing well after chasing slow fractions. Maybe she’ll get a better setup tonight.

Race 4

(2) FASHION ROCKER raced okay versus better foes and now drops down a notch. (7) BLUSH HANOVER is at a level where she is supposed to be tough to beat. (1) SENORITA SANTANNA gets a better post to work with this week.

Race 5

(2) SEASIDE ILLUSION comes off two credible efforts where she finished up with decent trot while facing slightly better competition. I’ll give her the call in a field without a clear standout. (5) UNCLE MACK seems to be finding his form and comes off a good speed try at Tioga. (4) KING OF MAGIC hasn’t exactly impressed in the morning but does have the Takter barn in his corner.

Race 6

(1) TOTALLY RUSTY passed them all from an outside post last week and now draws pylon position with the opportunity to choose her trip. (4) SHEEZA SHARK N just missed in consecutive weeks against similar company; obvious threat. (3) GWENEEEE J stole the race on the engine last time and is plenty sharp now.

Race 7

(1) B YOYO faces easier foes this week and should prove tough to beat. (4) YOU ROCK MY WORLD drops out of the same race as the top pick and rates as the main threat. (6) WIN THE DAY makes the move to the big track and that might be just what the doctor ordered.

Race 8

(6) IMAGINE DRAGON looked like she might have won last week if not for the costly break. Taking into consideration the driver change, the price should be right to roll the dice on her behaving. (4) CALL ME QUEEN BE comes into this race with class and form as she has been tackling some of the best 3-year-old fillies. She gets tested versus older foes tonight. (5) DELIGHTFUL DRAGON is a proven commodity that is capable of stepping up on any given night.

Race 9

(3) OUTBURST has been more of a fringe player in recent starts here, but that was against mostly stronger competition. He should prove to be a major player in this spot. (2) O U SEXY GUY gets a better post to work with this week after being stuck outside last time. (5) BROOKROAD KNIGHT comes off a win at a lower level but doesn’t exactly face a field of killers this week.

Race 10

(7) HUG A DRAGONESS comes off a nice effort and finally seems to be figuring things out as she closes in on 20 career starts. (3) ADDY GIRL wasn’t quite ready for the speed needed to win at the Meadowlands, but having last week’s mile under her belt should have tightened her up. (10) GRACEFUL VISION raced well upon arrival but lacks early speed and is stuck outside.

Race 11

(5) FERRISWHEEL JUNKIE was poised behind cover last week when he made a break last time. If he minds his manners a victory is likely. (1) CARNEGIE should be able to stay in striking position from the inside post and Tetrick in the bike is a nice plus. (8) VERDI has displayed flashes of ability in between breaks. (7) MONTALBANO BI put in a big mile two starts back but I’m not expecting a repeat in the near future.
